Trends in Prophecy Affect Our Christian Walk
trends that affect our daily lives
Special Proclamation Prayer for Today's trends
Father, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
Your Word declares that if we, Your people, who are called by Your
name, will humble ourselves and pray and seek Your face and turn
from our wicked ways, then will You hear from heaven and You will
forgive our sin and will heal our land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
We bow before Your sacred throne and humbly ask Your
forgiveness for the sin of idolatry! Your word demands; “Thou shalt
have no other gods before Me”, yet we have, under the banner of
pluralism and hedonism, embraced and worshipped the gods of
this world. Take us back to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
Through moral and spiritual compromise and complacency, we have
allowed our nation to conform to the ways of the world by turning
away from our spiritual roots found in Your Word.
Our silence has produced a secular nation and all nations that forget
You, shall be forsaken. We ask that You hear our cry, for we need
You, in these desperate times, to lead us out of our politically correct
fog of constant confusion and take us back to Your moral clarity.
O Lord our God, King of the Universe, we confess that America
cannot survive without Your presence. Your statutes founded this
blessed land and we look to You, Father God, to preserve it, for
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
As commanded in scripture, we pray for all who are in authority
who govern our nation; may their decisions be led by the perfect
compass of your Holy Word which clearly discerns right from wrong.
(I Timothy 2:1-3)
O Lord our God, You have promised to raise up righteous leaders
into high places and to remove those who have displayed unrighteous
authority. We earnestly pray that You will once again exalt the
righteous and expose the deeds of the ungodly.
America must have spiritual renewal for moral survival! In this
season of prayer, we unite in humble heartfelt hope and ask that You
forgive us and deliver us from the folly of our transgressions. Guide
and sustain our nation as we turn from our sin and return to You,
the God of our fathers. (Psalm 51:1-17)
The time has come to declare our trust in You to heal our land.
(2 Samuel 22:2-4; Psalm 5:11-12; Psalm 57:1-3)
We pledge to exercise our God given rights of “life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness” in voting for future leaders from the county
courthouse to the White House who obey and honor Your Word.
(Deuteronomy 28:1-14; Psalm 119:44-48; Psalm5:11)
We pledge to vote the Bible in selecting those that will govern our
country. (Deuteronomy 16:18-20)
Blessed are you, O Lord our God, for You are good and Your mercy
endures forever. We petition heaven with our united prayers as we
seek Your blessing, Your peace and Your protection for America.
(I Chronicles 16:34; Numbers 6:22-26; Romans 15:13;
May the Lord our God, be with us, as He was with our forefathers;
may He not leave us or forsake us; so that He may incline our hearts
to Himself, to walk in all His ways... that all peoples of the earth may
know that the Lord is God and that there is no other.

The MANHATTEN DECLARATION
URGENT MESSAGE FOR ALL CHRISTIANS: SIGN THE MANHATTEN DECLARATION!
Albert Mohler: Why I Signed the Manhatten Declaration
Posted: 27 Nov 2009 10:34 AM PST
PropheticTrends.com | November 27, 2009
On Nov. 23, 2009, Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, explained why he signed The Manhattan Declaration. The 4,700-word declaration issues a clarion call to Christians to adhere to their convictions and informs civil authorities that the signers will not — under any circumstance — abandon their Christian consciences.
I am not inclined to sign manifestos or petitions. While believing strongly and passionately about many causes, I am not usually impressed with the effectiveness of such statements and I am generally concerned about how such statements might be used or construed by others. I am not reluctant to speak for myself and from my own Christian convictions and consequent judgments. Furthermore, the constant exchange of opposing statements on this or that issue merely crowds the public square as opposing viewpoints compete for attention. So, for reasons perhaps both admirable and not so admirable, I prefer to stand on my own public statements.
But I signed The Manhattan Declaration. Indeed, I am among the original signatories to that statement, released to the public at the National Press Club last Friday. Why?
There are several reasons, but they all come down to this — I believe we are facing an inevitable and culture-determining decision on the three issues centrally identified in this statement. I also believe that we will experience a significant loss of Christian churches, denominations, and institutions in this process. There is every good reason to believe that the freedom to conduct Christian ministry according to Christian conviction is being subverted and denied before our eyes. I believe that the sanctity of human life, the integrity of marriage, and religious liberty are very much in danger at this very moment.

Q) Why is the United States not specifically mentioned in end-time Bible prophecy?
This is one of the major mysteries of end-time Bible prophecy. I recently interviewed Bible prophecy expert Terry James, author of The American Apocalypse: Is the United States in Bible Prophecy? Below are some of the insights he shared with me.
A) That is a strange thing because certainly the United States is the most powerful nation that’s every existed on the face of the earth. It is the most blessed materially and certainly one of the most blessed spiritually that’s ever existed. But, I think it’s not mentioned for specific reasons.
It has deserted its mission, which was basically two-fold in my view. The first was to get the technology that would eventually get the Bible to the whole world. And that we have done and we continue to do, and maybe that’s one of our saving graces up to this point considering how far we’ve fallen in so many areas.
The second thing I think is to be the protector. Now, God doesn’t need anybody to protect Israel. But in the human sense, I think that the United States has been used as a mighty weapon to keep other nations from completely overrunning Israel.
So America has had those two primary missions and I think we’re still in the process of doing the first one and that is to bring the Gospel message to the whole world through the technology we develop. But the second, we are beginning to stray from dealing with Israel. We know that Genesis 12:3 says that, "God says I will bless those who bless three, curse those who curse thee."
Q) What is the evidence that we have really strayed from that and that God’s judgment may be upon us at this time?
A) America has begun to stray in a major way with dealing with Israel as we have put pressure on Israel to give up land for peace. What is particularly troubling is they’ve been pressured to give up part of east Jerusalem to a new Palestinian state — a "Two State Solution" they call it. And this, I can tell you, from God’s Word flies in the face of the Lord.
Anybody who touches Jerusalem touches the apple of His eye according to God and that’s exactly what has happened. Joel 3:2 says that "I’ll bring all the nations of the world into the valley of Jehoshaphat for dealing unjustly with my people Israel" — and that’s exactly what’s happened!
But, there are so many other things, too. Paul’s perilous time of 2 Timothy 3 just runs rampant throughout America, from the proud boasts we see in all the political process and in every strata of American life, all the way through to people who become fierce, who become lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God — all these things.
Particularly, I find a problem is the verse about "without natural affection." Paul says this and it’s particularly applicable to abortion. More than fifty million babies have been murdered in their wombs since Roe v. Wade in 1973.
Secondly, the homosexual issue and the gay rights issue that is just pandemic. Every major empire that’s ever crashed has had at the very end of its lifespan homosexuality, from Lot’s time onward.
Q) I have found that many people, including Christians, believe that God’s sitting on his throne wrapped in an American flag and that He would never ever touch the United States of America. Is that true?
A) Well, of course we both know that’s just foolishness. Israel, who God calls "His chosen people," He has certainly taken them to the woodshed on many occasions. That in itself tells you how that America or no other entity is above God and His ways.
Q) Why isn’t the United States mentioned in end-time Bible prophecy?
A) I really believe that this nation is going to come down hard when the Rapture occurs. There will be chaos beyond belief and I believe personally that every single child below the age of accountability (that age when they know to accept Christ or refuse), will be gone in an instant. Just that alone is going to cause chaos beyond imagination. God’s going to make a definite statement, in my opinion, at that very moment about when life begins, because every woman left behind, I believe, who is pregnant will at that moment lose that child and they will be without that baby.
I think when the Rapture occurs it’s going to be a complete collapse, not only of America but the whole economic situation. The scenario as I see it is that America will cease to be a super power because it will have lost its equilibrium.
Q) What do you think will be the result of the chaos that would occur with the Rapture?
A) I think the European Union is the answer now. I believe at that time America and its leadership, which will have been devastated, is going to look for a strong way to restore equilibrium. The United States, with its great power and technology, is going to be accepted into the European Union and become a part of it.

NETANYAHU AND OBAMA AT ODDS
Posted: 21 May 2009 02:48 PM PDT
by Koinonia House
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US President Barack Obama this week and, as expected, did not offer any interest in a two-state solution. Instead, Netanyahu focused on how to deal with the Iranian nuclear threat. While the men maintained a friendly rapport, it was clear that the new American and Israeli governments have very different views on how to handle the tricky situation that is called the Middle East.
The US government has long supported a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Obama has stepped in line with that policy, and openly made it clear that he believes Israel should restart the peace process with the Palestinian leadership in the West Bank.
Bibi, on the other hand, has resisted even talking about the creation of a Palestinian state. Some of his associates have brought up the idea of a sort of Palestinian entity, but not an actual state with the ability to sign treaties or control airspace. Netanyahu is willing to start a peace process, but doesn’t believe there will be any success until the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state, something that PA leader Mahmoud Abbas has not been willing to do. "I want to make it clear that we don’t want to govern the Palestinians; we want to live in peace with them," he said.
West Bank settlements is another hot issue. Obama urged the new Israeli government to stop the expansion of settlements in the West Bank as Netanyahu promised he would. "There is a clear understanding that we have to make progress on settlements; that settlements have to be stopped in order for us to move forward," Obama said.
Bibi’s government holds the position, however, that there isn’t any new settlement building going on. The issue is actually a matter of definitions. Does expanding settlements mean building in entirely new locations, or does it mean building additional houses in existing settlement areas? New houses are being built by Jews in the West Bank, but the Israeli government holds the view that these are homes appropriately being erected in existing settlements. The Palestinians who want no new houses, though, consider these building projects to be unacceptable settlement expansion.
The issue of Iran was perhaps the most important matter discussed at the meeting, but while Obama recognizes Israel’s right to protect itself, he and Bibi still have differing views on how to handle the problem. The Israelis are concerned that Iran might develop a nuclear weapon within the next two years, and therefore want a deadline by which to work things out with Iran diplomatically. Obama, on the other hand, wants to promote talks with Iran about its nuclear program and see what can be accomplished within the next year through peaceful negotiations. He has resisted putting any end date on cooperative dialogue with Iran.
The governments of Israel and the US also have differing views on what should be considered the Middle East’s "key" issue. The American administration believes that if the Palestinian problem can get taken care of, then that will encourage other states in the region to cooperate regarding Iran. As long as Israel is perceived as an occupier, the Obama Administration argues, it will be difficult to get the regional support needed to pressure Iran. The Netanyahu administration, on the other hand, argues that Iran needs to be dealt with before there can be any hope for a peaceful solution to the Palestinian situation.
The Obama Administration is maintaining America’s long-held support of Israel’s right to protect itself, and the two leaders were warm and friendly with one another. It is clear, though, that the respective governments of Benjamin Netanyahu and Barack Obama may have trouble seeing eye-to-eye for awhile to come.

A NATION OF RELIGIOUS DRIFTERS
Posted: 22 May 2009 04:00 AM PDT
The U.S. is a nation of religious drifters, with about half of adults restlessly switching faith affiliation at least once during their lives, a new survey has found.
And the reasons behind all the swapping depend greatly on whether one grows up kneeling at Roman Catholic Mass, praying in a Protestant pew or occupied with nonreligious pursuits, according to a report issued Monday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.
While Catholics are more likely to leave the church because they stopped believing its teachings, many Protestants are driven to trade one Protestant denomination or affiliation for another because of changed life circumstances, the survey found.
The ranks of those unaffiliated with any religion, meanwhile, are growing not so much because of a lack of religious belief but because of disenchantment with religious leaders and institutions.
The report estimates that between 47 percent and 59 percent of U.S. adults have changed affiliation at least once. Most described just gradually drifting away from their childhood faith.
"This shows a sort of religion a la carte and how pervasive it is," said D. Michael Lindsay, a Rice University sociologist of religion. "In some ways, it’s an indictment of organized Christianity. It suggests there’s a big open door for newcomers, but a wide back door where people are leaving."
Emergent leader: confront end-time believing Christians
Posted: 24 May 2009 04:06 AM PDT
BRIAN MCLAREN WANTS END-TIME BELIEVING CHRISTIANS ROBUSTLY CONFRONTED
In an April 2009 article in Sojourner’s magazine by emerging church leader, Brian McLaren, McLaren clearly has targeted Christians. But not just any Christians. McLaren is talking about Christians who believe Jesus Christ is coming back again, suggesting that these type of Christians are the reason there is no peace in the Middle East. He says what these end-time believing Christians are doing is "terrible," "deadly," and "distorted."
McLaren says that he grew up with a dispensational view (the belief that Jesus Christ will return and establish his kingdom on earth) but has come to realize this view is "morally and ethically harmful." He likens this belief system to racism in the 50s and 60s and says: "These doctrinal formulations often use a bogus end-of-the-world scenario to create a kind of death-wish for World War III, which–unless it is confronted more robustly by the rest of us–could too easily create a self-fulfilling prophecy."
It isn’t just Bible-believing Christians who McLaren is upset with - he’s also angry about Israel and the very idea that she is a special nation in the eyes of God. This is why he names Christian Zionists and Dispensationalists in particularly, because they tend to be two groups who hold fast to the belief that Israel is indeed a special nation to the Lord.
Obama TO Say It Is Time to Divide Jerusalem
Posted: 26 May 2009 04:00 AM PDT
by Joel Rosenberg
I’m horrified by reports this morning that in his June 4th speech in Cairo, President Obama will say it is time to divide Jerusalem and make the holy city the capital of a Palestinian state.
No, Mr. President, it is not.
Jerusalem is and should be the eternal, undivided capital of the Jewish people and the Jewish state.
Dividing Jerusalem will not make peace. Rather, it would send a message to every Radical Islamic jihadist around the world that Israel is weak, that the Jews won’t even defend the sovereignty of their own capital, that there is “blood in the water,” and that it is time to strike Israel and wipe her off the map. Dividing Jerusalem would trigger an apocalyptic war in the Middle East the likes of which the region has never seen.
Already, the Radicals believe Israel is doomed to destruction. Hearing that the American President is now ready to apply intense pressure against the Israelis to divide their capital will only embolden the Radicals and convince them further that Allah is on their side, the wind is at their back, and they will soon triumph over the Jews and Christians.
While I am not surprised by where the President is headed, I am horrified nonetheless. Right at the moment when the U.S. and Israel need to be working with Arab states in unity against the Iranian nuclear threat, this White House is systematically turning against Israel. Despite all the smiles and boilerplate rhetoric from senior administration officials over the last few days that Prime Minister Netanyahu has been in town — promising to stand with Israel and maintain her security — what the administration is actually advancing in terms of policy is dangerous and destabilizing. They are playing with fire, and they must be publicly and peaceably challenged and resisted.
I am committed to doing everything I possibly can to educate people — and particularly U.S. and Canadian evangelical Christians — to the threats facing Israel and the West due to Radical Islam, and to the biblical responsibility we have to show unconditional love and unwavering support to Israel and the Jewish people. We’ll use radio, TV, the internet, emails and other media to get the word out. But we can’t do it alone. We want and need your help.
One idea: let’s build an alliance of one million true friends of Israel — people who love Israel, are committed to blessing her in real and practical ways, are absolutely opposed to dividing Jerusalem, and will pray faithfully for the peace of Jerusalem and the protection of all the people of the epicenter.
Currently, we have 100,000 subscribers to our Flash Traffic email updates who are committed to this cause. If each of us recruited just 10 new friends to sign up for Flash Traffic and be part of this alliance, we would be able to communicate new information, new projects, and new prayer requests to them instantly. We would be able to mobilize people for pro-Israel events. We would be able to mobilize people to write to President Obama and their Congressional leaders to stand with Israel, not against her. We would be able to work together to stockpile food, clothing, medical supplies and other aid in Israel ahead of the next war. We would be able to encourage one another with the knowledge that we are not alone in this important fight. And we can work with other like-minded organizations — including One Jerusalem, founded by my friend, Natan Sharansky — to defend the holy city and bless the people of Israel.
Let me be clear: I love the Israeli people. I also love the Palestinians. I want the Israelis to be able — by God’s grace — to live in safety, security and peace. At the same time, I want the Palestinians to be able to govern themselves and to live in autonomy and peace. But I strongly oppose dividing Jerusalem. I strongly oppose the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state that would endanger the very existence of Israel.
I am not convinced that Mahmoud Abbas is a partner for peace. I know for certain that Hamas will never make peace; they are committed only to terror, bloodshed and the annihilation of Israel. What’s more, I submit that the last three “land for peace” offers that Israel has made to her neighbors — at Camp David in 2000 when Israel offered half of Jerusalem, 93% of the West Bank, and all of Gaza; in 2000 when Israel unilaterally withdrew from southern Lebanon; and in 2005 when Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza — have been absolute disasters for the Jewish State.
All three initiatives triggered more war, not peace. They triggered waves of suicide bombers and tens of thousands of rockets, missiles and mortars against Israel. Why in the world would we think continuing down the same road with the same strategies will produce different and better results?
The Bible says in Zechariah 1:14-18, “So the angel who was speaking with me said to me, Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and Zion. But I am very angry with the nations who are at ease; for while I was only a little angry, they furthered the disaster.”
Therefore thus says the LORD, ‘I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; My house will be built in it,” declares the LORD of hosts, “and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.”‘ Again, proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”‘”
This is good news. The God of Israel will neither sleep nor slumber. He is jealous for Jerusalem. He will defend His country, His city, and His people. But He expects us to do our part. And He promises in Genesis 12:1-3 that if we bless Israel, He will bless us.

From a base in the Swat Valley, Taliban influence and infiltration are spreading through a nuclear-armed nation.
The Pakistani government may have sincerely believed it could contain the Taliban by giving the extremist group a district to rule, but Pakistani Christians understand the Taliban’s ultimate agenda.
Taliban militants in Karachi’s Taiser Town-hundreds of miles from the Taliban’s newly obtained Swat Valley-chalked the homes and churches of local Christians with threats and slogans demanding that they pay the jizra, an Islamic tax for the protection of non-converts.
When the Christian community washed the slogans from the buildings, dozens of armed militants arrived and shot three people execution style on April 22, including 11-year-old Irfan Masih, who died a few hours later.
Nestled in the North West Frontier Province, the Swat Valley is known as the "Switzerland of Pakistan" for its snow-capped mountains, lush meadow, and crystal-clear lakes. But few tourists have visited this region since the Taliban burned down its ski resort, banned education for girls, and destroyed more than 200 schools.
California Gay Marriage Ban Upheld
Posted: 28 May 2009 06:00 AM PDT
from U.S. News & World Report
ABC World News reported that California’s Supreme Court “upheld the ban on same sex marriages, known as Proposition 8, that was approved by California voters last November. But the court said the marriages of 18,000 gay couples who wed while it was still legal in California, will stand.”
The CBS Evening News said that “for supporters of same-sex marriage, today’s ruling was a bitter defeat.” NBC Nightly News reported that “at a protest here in Los Angeles, gay marriage supporters promised to take their fight back to voters, continuing the legal see-saw battle into next year.”
The Los Angeles Times also says the decision “virtually ensures another fight at the ballot box over marriage rights for gays. Gay rights activists say they may ask voters to repeal the marriage ban as early as next year, and opponents have pledged to fight any such effort.”
In an analysis piece, the Los Angeles Times says Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he “would abide by the Supreme Court’s ruling…but that he believes gay couples should have the right to marry and would obtain it someday through an initiative or the courts.”
In The Hill, Rep. Tom McClintock (R CA) is quoted as saying, “It was legally correct, and I think the Court put interpretation of the law above its own policy biases.” Rep. Brad Sherman (D CA) said, “From a policy perspective, I’m disappointed. The Court’s decision focuses on very technical issues of amendment versus revision in the California Constitution.”
Polls Show Attitudes On Gay Rights Shifting
USA Today notes that a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll “of 1,015 Americans taken May 7-10 showed 57% oppose same-sex marriage, while 69% say gay men and lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the military and teach elementary school.” The survey revealed “a shift over the past 15 years on these issues, but it also showed that same-sex marriage remains a line that many are unwilling to cross.”
However, the Washington Post reports that “a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll showed for the first time more people in favor of legal marriage than opposed. And support for marriage of gay couples is significantly higher among younger adults — particularly those under age 30, nearly half of whom ’strongly support’ it — than it is among older Americans.”
Court to Decide if Vets Can Be Honored with Cross
Posted: 29 May 2009 06:00 AM PDT
By Audrey Hudson | The Washington Times
Some see it as the universal symbol of sacrifice in World War I, others see it as the undisputed sign of Christianity, but it will be up to the Supreme Court to make a final determination as to whether a 7-foot cross remains standing in a California desert to memorialize war veterans.
The cross was first erected in 1934 in what is now the federally protected Mojave Desert Preserve by a group of veterans whose doctors advised them that the desert heat would help them recover from shell shock.
Veterans today say this war memorial and others like it across the country that use religious symbols are under attack by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
“They are not the enemy; they are just dead wrong,” says Joe Davis, spokesman for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
But the civil liberties group says the cross is offensive to Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim and other non-Christian veterans.
“People of every faith have fought and died for this country,” says Peter Eliasberg, counsel for the ACLU Foundation of Southern California. “Yet we will have veterans divided about the idea of how you reflect the sacrifice of American veterans.”
“For us to choose the principal symbol of one religion that says Jesus is the Son of God and He is divine and say that is an appropriate way to reflect the sacrifice of people who don’t believe that … is excluding by its very nature,” Mr. Eliasberg said.
“What we would like done, it is appropriate to have a war memorial and to choose a symbol that reflects everyone, and not a symbol that divides veterans by their faith,” Mr. Eliasberg said.
At a gathering last week at the National Press Club, just before the Memorial Day weekend, several veterans organizations made their case for why the Supreme Court should rule in their favor during its next session, which begins in October.
“This Memorial Day is more than just a three-day weekend at the beach,” Mr. Davis said. “This is about remembrance.”
Is this God’s Final Warning to America?
Posted: 30 May 2009 06:00 AM PDT
By Jan Markell | Olive Tree Ministries
America is at a crossroads. Many are asking if she can be saved, or has God abandoned America? What a pitiful conclusion, if so, for a nation that has been a beacon of hope for the oppressed of the world. How often has America banded to fight off aggression or traveled to the ends of the earth to aid the less fortunate? How many missionaries has she provided to the world saving an untold number of lost souls?
Some say America must be punished for her sins, but are they really that much more grave than other wealthy nation? Luke 12:48 reminds us that from those given a great deal will be required much more. Have we used our God-given assets properly?
My radio guest on May 16 was John McTernan, author of God’s Final Warning to America and As America Has Done to Israel. (As America Has Done to Israel will be on my Web site in the next few days.) Since 1987, John has tracked judgment on America when we abuse the unborn, look the other way at the radical gay agenda, and cause any kind of harm to God’s covenant land of Israel. Some have “issues” with this. I am not sure why since there is a biblical illustration for each category. Ever heard of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Right now America is torn in two, and the more Obama pushes the division of Israel, the more division there will be in our country. It has far surpassed the clever little red state-blue state illustration of a few years ago. Now it is hard-core secular humanist liberalism vs. traditional values and biblical values’ people butting heads. Just this rampant division in our country is judgment. We cannot all get along! The chasm of division grows more each day!
America is trillions of dollars in debt. More than 60% of the country is experiencing a drought. Two million houses are in foreclosure. Read Deuteronomy 28 to see how God dealt with a rebellious Israel. Why would He do less to a rebellious America?
Recently Homeland Security declared millions of good people “right-wing extremists.”
Janet Napolitano has now pulled that position paper due to the outcry. Nonetheless, very good people were called evil with overtones of Isaiah 5:20 at play. Let’s be honest and say this kind of labeling was going on long before the Obama administration came to power but now it is on fast-forward.
Dr. James Dobson stated that “America is awash in evil.” He also stated in World Net Daily on May 14, 2009, “There is utter evil coming out of the U.S. Congress.” Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) has been reporting on the “pedophile protection act” being promoted by Congress. He states, “If we don’t have another awakening, I’m not sure what’s left (of America).” Dobson concurs and says that the threat to religious rights “keeps me awake at night.”
Under certain circumstances, names for Jesus or symbols of Jesus must be covered up as ordered by the Obama administration. If any prayer is to be used in any service or ceremony, it must be approved and likely will be stricken out. There is almost unbelievable news that our Pentagon is burning Bibles. Do we even have a right to expect God’s favor on America?
Thankfully some Christian leaders and pastors are speaking up and risking all, but for the most part, the church is asleep. A nation is only as strong as her churches are strong. A passage was given to Israel that can be applied to our day, which reads,
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, then turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land” (II Chronicles 7:14). The verse is not directed at the devil’s crowd! The responsibility for turning around the direction of a country falls heavily on people of faith.
Unfortunately many churches today don’t want to preach about judgment. They are spiritually anesthetized. They have not been taught to fear the Lord but rather, that God is all about love because that makes people come to church. Many pastors and ministry leaders would never put a big part of the blame on America’s demise onto the church! They’re into church growth and don’t make waves or people won’t return next week. Praise needs to be extended to pastors and church leaders who are holding to truth, who are telling the truth, and who are warning of serious judgment occurring now and in the future.
This past spring, “America’s pastor,” Rick Warren, reversed himself on California’s “Proposition 8.” He ultimately apologized to the gay community for his endorsement of it. And we expect God’s blessing when “America’s pastor” does this? I realize many reading this do not consider Rick their pastor, but let’s be honest, many do. America’s “other pastor” is Joel Osteen who said on Larry King that he’s just glad Obama “loves the Lord.” Why the sugar-coating? Why not tell the inconvenient truth?
We have reached a point where we can only pray that God would have mercy in His judgment on America, and that He would send an outpouring of His Spirit to help beat back the rampant evil of our times. Perhaps right now our only focus should be on evangelism before the Ark door shuts once again. Maybe it is too late for petitions and pleading with Congress to do things right. Maybe our focus should be eternal, not earthly. But once an individual or a nation gives up, the slide can be at rapid pace and no one wants to see that. The Bible doesn’t tell Christians to be “salt and light” just up to a certain point in history and then quit!
Thus I would exhort you to press on and speak up for righteousness, for “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).

General Motors Files for Bankruptcy Protection
Posted: 01 Jun 2009 01:45 PM PDT
By U.S. News & World Report
With time running out on its June 1st restructuring deadline, GM expected to file for bankruptcy today. ABC World News reported last night it is a "foregone conclusion" that GM "will file for bankruptcy" Monday, "all in an effort to survive." One "estimate of best case scenarios predicts that GM and Chrysler’s bankruptcies together will cost individuals more than $13 billion. Local governments, more than $5 billion."
NBC Nightly News reported "all the pieces are in place for General Motors to go bankrupt" after "54% of those holding $27 billion in GM bonds agreed to swap that debt for a stake in the new GM, clearing the path for a potentially smoother, quicker GM bankruptcy."
The Detroit Free Press also reports that "a deal with bondholders not to oppose GM’s bankruptcy plan was seen as an important step to helping speed GM’s bankruptcy process." According to USA Today, "the U.S. government will invest an additional $30.1 billion in General Motors (GM) to finance its bankruptcy reorganization to be filed Monday, President Obama’s auto task force said in a statement."
In a front-page story, the Washington Post says the restructuring plans call for "about 60 percent of the new GM" to "be owned by the United States, about 12 percent by the governments of Canada and Ontario, a union health trust would own 17.5 percent, and the company’s current bondholders would get 10 percent."
Although GM "now joins Chrysler as the bankrupt duo of Detroit’s once-formidable Big Three," the Los Angeles Times points out that "the Obama administration is touting the bankruptcy filing as the beginning of a new era for GM, a painful but necessary court-supervised restructuring that will make the company profitable again and a leader in producing fuel-efficient vehicles."
The New York Times profiles 31-year-old Brian Deese, "a not-quite graduate of Yale Law School who had never set foot in an automotive assembly plant until he took on his nearly unseen role in remaking the American automotive industry." Yet, "according to those who joined him in the middle of his crash course about the automakers’ downward spiral, he has emerged as one of the most influential voices in what may become President Obama’s biggest experiment yet in federal economic intervention."
Meanwhile, the New York Times notes on the front page of its business Day section, "With General Motors about to follow Chrysler into bankruptcy, the nation’s ability to bounce back from the steep recession is being hobbled."
Chrysler Could Exit Bankruptcy As Early As Monday The Wall Street Journal reports on its website, "Chrysler LLC could exit bankruptcy reorganization as soon as Monday, after barely a month in Chapter 11 protection," as "Judge Arthur Gonzalez of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manahattan is expected to approve the sale of most of Chrysler’s assets on Monday to its alliance partner, Fiat SpA."
"A Gravely Wicked Thing”

Being pro-life, I reject the killing of every defenseless, innocent human being. So without any hesitation, I condemn the murder of Dr. George Tiller at his church yesterday morning. As you probably know, George Tiller specialized in performing late-term abortions.
I agree with the statement of Dr. Robert George:
“Whoever murdered George Tiller has done a gravely wicked thing. …No private individual had the right to execute judgment against him. For the sake of justice and right, the perpetrator of this evil deed must be prosecuted, convicted and punished. …Every human life is precious. George Tiller’s life was precious. We do not teach the wrongness of taking human life by wrongfully taking a human life.”
The suspect is already in custody and will be charged today with first degree murder. However, the hypocrisy at this moment has nothing to do with the pro-life movement, which overwhelmingly condemns the murder of the innocent.
The hypocrisy belongs to Big Media and the political Left, which today are beating their chests over the death of George Tiller. Every other day of the year, those same commentators are defending the intentional destruction of one million unborn children a year.
Attorney General Eric Holder ordered federal marshals deployed to protect “appropriate people and facilities [abortionists and their clinics] around the nation.” If President Obama was truly concerned about the taking of innocent life, he might consider sending the marshals to shut down the abortion clinics, which would save those one million lives! But if he did that, he would offend the pro-abortion movement.
The reality is that the political Left created the culture of death in America – where our unborn children are disposed of each year just like Styrofoam cups. Once you create that culture of death that devalues innocent life, and champion the idea that some human beings have no right to life that we are bound to respect, then every life is at greater risk.
Obama Sets Deadline for Mideast Breakthrough
Posted: 02 Jun 2009 04:30 AM PDT
Sunday Times reports US president gave himself two years for diplomatic breakthrough on two-state solution, adding that during schedule speech in Cairo this week he will offer his personal commitment to ‘change the conversation’ with Muslim world
US President Barack Obama has given himself two years for a diplomatic breakthrough on a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians, the London-based Sunday Times reported.
According to the report, during his scheduled speech in Cairo this week Obama will offer his personal commitment to “change the conversation” with the Muslim world.
Obama’s Mideast tour will begin with a meeting with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss the Arab peace initiative and relations with Iran before he arrives in Egypt the next day, the Times said.
The Times quoted White House advisers as saying that Obama would “take on the tough issues”, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and offer to bridge differences with Muslims based on “mutual interests and mutual respect” - the same words used in his address to the Turkish parliament last month.
The report said that the goal of two states living side by side, with the holy sites in Jerusalem under international jurisdiction, is to receive a new push by Obama.
“Some of the things that you will hear in the speech are returning to proven and effective policies and initiatives that have . . . served the national interest well in the past,” Denis McDonough, Obama’s foreign policy adviser, was quoted as saying.
On Friday Obama met in the White House with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and reiterated his demand that Israel freeze all settlement construction and the Palestinians renounce terror and dismantle terror infrastructure.
He called on both the Palestinians and Israelis to take trust-building measures in an effort to jump-start the peace process.
Upon his return to the Middle East, Abbas said he was making strong diplomatic efforts to renew the dialogue between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
Speaking at a Cairo press conference Saturday after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Abbas said the problem now was that the Israeli side had not yet formed a policy regarding the renewal of talks. "We were told it would happen soon," he said.
"This will happen within weeks, which means that by early July something should happen on this front," the Palestinian leader said without specifying a date for the renewal of negotiations.
Obama’s Speech of Reconciliation in Cairo

By Howard Fineman | Newsweek
Barack Obama believes in his voice and his life story. Autobiographical speeches powered his campaign, and he saved his wobbly presidential bid in 2008 with a pensive—and personal—sermon in Philadelphia on the history of race, weaving his own multihued DNA into the tapestry of America.
As sweeping as it sounded, that speech also had a narrower political purpose: to put distance between him and the racist rants of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in whose Chicago congregation Obama sat for years without uttering a complaint. Obama was so deft, so embracing of our sad history, pain and differences—and so convincing because of his life testimony. It seemed almost incidental that his real aim was to jettison a political liability.
Now comes the ultimate test of autobiographical speechmaking. Obama this week speaks at Cairo University, in the hub of Muslim-Arab culture. Perhaps the results will be Philly II: a skillful blend of grandeur and grit. On one level, he isn’t risking much. After all, George W. Bush set the bar so low. All Obama has to do to be a success is elicit applause—rather than a fusillade of hurled shoes.
But he has privately told friends that his goal is far higher: nothing less than to help "reconcile Islam and modernity." He will pay homage to the Golden Age of that culture—its glorious achievements in mathematics, science, literature and diplomacy—and note that Muslim scholars rescued from oblivion the Greek and Roman (i.e., the "Western") canon. He also will draw on the by-now-familiar story of his own life.
A Christian son of an African-Muslim father, he spent years in Muslim-majority Indonesia, attending a public school run by, but not suffused with, the teachings of Islam. All of this, Obama thinks, not only allows him, but obliges him, to play a grand role as bridge builder.
Obama Seeks "Dialogue" With Muslim World

U.S. News & World Report
As he departed for the Middle East, media coverage of President Obama’s upcoming Cairo speech was largely positive, with reports on all three networks and major print outlets casting it as a potentially game-changing attempt to mend US ties to the Muslim world. Analysts cautioned, however, that the President faces some steep hurdles in his mission.
In an interview that aired on NBC Nightly News, the President seemed to agree: "One speech is not going to transform very real policy differences and some very difficult issues surrounding the Middle East and the relationship between Islam and the West. … I do hope that we can start opening a dialogue that will be more constructive moving forward."
The CBS Evening News refers to "a speech of reconciliation with the Muslim world," while ABC World News says the President is "hoping to persuade the people of the region that democratic values are principles they can embrace."
Thomas L. Friedman writes in the New York Times "it was clear from" a 20-minute interview "that the president has no illusions that one speech will make lambs lie down with lions.
Rather, he sees it as part of his broader diplomatic approach." USA Today reports the White House "says the president plans to remind Muslims of his personal connection to them." The New York Times reports that "officials in Saudi Arabia and Egypt said that the president had already made progress on his Middle East agenda."
The Christian Science Monitor says that "there are high hopes in the Arab world." The Hill, meanwhile, notes that in an audio message, "al-Qaeda No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri" said that "choosing Cairo as the location for the speech ‘is a clear message that America does not stand with reform and change and other lying American propaganda, but it stands with the continuation of the existing tyrannical, rotten regimes.’"
Obama Invites Muslim Brotherhood Figures To Speech
The Wall Street Journal reports that "in a stark departure from the Bush administration, the Obama administration has invited to the speech parliamentarians affiliated with Egypt’s banned Islamic movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, according to Mohammed Katatni, head of the group’s legislative bloc. … The Bush administration championed Egypt’s secularists, but never encouraged or met members of the Brotherhood whose goal is a state based on Islamic principles of justice."
The Journal cautions that "Obama isn’t rushing to embrace the Brotherhood. Mohammed Habib, the deputy supreme leader of the group says that there has been no direct contact between his group and the Obama administration since it took office."
Obama: Iran Entitled To Peaceful Nukes
The AP reports that in a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, Obama "reiterated that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy — provided it takes steps to prove its aspirations are peaceful." Said the President, "Without going into specifics, what I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations. On the other hand, the international community has a very real interest in preventing a nuclear arms race in the region."
Obama Mideast Peace Effort Seen As Politically Risky
Posted: 03 Jun 2009 11:01 AM PDT
As the President leaves for his Mideast trip, media coverage last night and this morning lowered expectations about the short-term outcome of his efforts to forge a framework for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Moreover, analysts suggest the President risks domestic political fallout over what some casting as frayed US-Israeli ties.
AFP, for example, says that Obama is "seeking Arab backing for his bid to revive peace moves while a US confrontation steadily builds with Israel." ABC World News reported the Israelis have said "absolutely not" to Obama’s call for a freeze in settlement expansion, and "this is the big problem."
In fact in Israel, says the Financial Times under the headline "Israelis Fear Unravelling Of US Alliance," "the latest tensions between Washington and the new right-wing Israeli government are sparking concern bordering on alarm…amid suspicions that the formerly-rock-solid alliance is unravelling."
The Wall Street Journal says one "risk" he faces is his "expected lack of specificity about his plans for Israeli-Palestinian peace." The Financial Times reports that Obama’s settlement freeze demand poses "a test of his credibility," even as "US legislators call on him to scale down his demands and Israel maintains its opposition."
The Politico reports that the "escalating pressure on Israel to freeze all growth of its settlements on Palestinian land has begun to stir concern among Israel’s numerous allies in both parties on Capitol Hill." The New York Times, meanwhile, reports that "Obama on Tuesday played down" the "dispute with Israel," and told the BBC that "he believed the United States was ‘going to be able to get serious negotiations back on track’ between Israel and the Palestinians."
The Church and Same-Sex Marriage
Posted: 03 Jun 2009 04:00 AM PDT
Nearly every mainline Protestant denomination struggles over issues of sexual ethics. Although every Protestant church aspires to live faithfully in accord with the Bible’s teachings, most mainline Protestants understand biblical interpretation to be a necessary - if a necessarily difficult - step in the process of faithful living.
Just as most Christians choose not to obey every legal injunction of the Old Testament, many mainline Protestants likewise believe that faithfully interpreting the ethical teachings of the Bible can occasionally lead to changes in a living tradition. Mainline Protestants often struggle to discern where faithful Biblical interpretation might lead us to leave aside even some biblical practices (like slavery, for example) in favor of a new way of being "Christian."
Often the question of homosexuality is raised in this regard. How should biblically faithful Christians feel about homosexuality? This is an immense topic, and one that we’ll explore more deeply in upcoming features on this gateway through articles about the nature of biblical interpretation generally, and the question of homosexuality and ordination in particular. In this feature, however, we’d like to offer an overview of the official mainline denominational positions regarding same-sex marriage, as a way of opening up this conversation for further discussion and learning.
To start with the most apparently straightforward positions, Baptist churches tend to be opposed to gay marriage. Both the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the American Baptist Churches in the USA (ABC), two of the largest bodies of Baptist governance, have made official statements in opposition to same-sex marriage. The Southern Baptist Convention stated in 2003 its intent "to oppose steadfastly all efforts by any court or state legislature to validate or legalize same-sex marriage or other equivalent unions," whereas the American Baptists resolved in 1992 that "the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching."
The ABC hasn’t commented upon same-sex marriage specifically, but its opposition to same-sex marriage may yet be safely inferred. In fact, in 2006 several American Baptist churches left the denomination when its governing body failed to penalize churches which welcomed openly gay members.
Too Many Jews

What is the biggest threat to peace in the Middle East? Most of us would cite Islamofascism and death worshipping groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. But to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Jewish homes and babies are the real problem.
Nearly 300,000 Israelis live in communities of Judea and Samaria, or “the West Bank” as it is often referred to. These are not “outposts” or “settlements,” as Big Media and assorted commentators label them. They are Israeli “hometowns.” In these communities, young Israelis marry, start households and have babies. Nine thousand six hundred babies were born in Judea and Samaria in the most recent year and these growing families need housing.
But when President Obama met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last month, he told the prime minister that the U.S. wanted no more housing built in Judea and Samaria. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a few days later made it clear that there were no exceptions – not even for so-called “natural growth” – those pesky new Israeli families and their newborn babies.
Of course, the real goal here is even more disgusting. Obama/Clinton intend to browbeat Israel into turning Judea/Samaria over to a new Palestinian state and for that to happen the land has to be “Jew free.” Yes, you read that right. Remember Gaza? Every Jew was forced out for the simple reason that any Jew left behind would have been killed almost immediately. Gaza is now one big terror training camp, but that hasn’t stopped the anti-Israel crowd from pushing the same idea in Judea and Samaria.
Forcing an entire ethnic group to leave a geographic area and denying them housing is called “ethnic cleansing” and it is a war crime. But that is where Obama is headed, while too many “friends” of Israel in Congress and elsewhere stand by in silence. It is way past time for American Jews and pro-Israel Christians to speak up.
Obama Wins Plaudits For Speech To Muslim World
Posted: 05 Jun 2009 10:37 AM PDT
U.S. News & World Report
President Obama’s speech in Cairo yesterday is receiving extensive, and largely glowing, media coverage. NBC Nightly News remarked on "a wave of positive reaction swept across the Islamic world," adding that "surprisingly, on broadcasters like Syrian TV, the President’s speech received little criticism, and the same even on Hamas’ hard-line Al-Aqsa TV station."
ABC World News similarly said that "even the militant groups Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza welcomed the change in language. Moderate Muslim politicians were impressed as well," while the Financial Times reports that "even Saudi Islamists expressed their satisfaction after Mr Obama spoke on Thursday,"
The New York Times reports,
"Again and again, Muslim listeners said they were struck by how skillfully Mr. Obama appropriated religious, cultural and historical references in ways other American presidents had not. He sprinkled the speech with four quotations from the Koran and used Arabic greetings."
He "structured his speech almost like a Friday Prayer, blending a political, social and religious message." The Washington Post reports the "55-minute address electrified many Muslims in the Arab Middle East," and praises the President’s use of "spare language and a measured explanatory tone," while the Los Angeles Times says "few world leaders today can match Obama’s eloquence and charisma," adding that although the speech "didn’t provide enough concrete solutions to wipe away doubt…it did suggest…that the president is a conciliator, not a warrior, and that America, especially in Iraq, had made mistakes."
USA Today said the "soaring" speech "sought to challenge stereotypes on all sides after a decade of violence and misunderstanding," adding that "the only disruption during the speech came when someone from the audience shouted, ‘We love you.’
Obama did not respond as he often does at home with, ‘I love you back.’ He smiled and said, ‘Thank you.’"
English-language outlets in the region offered positive portrayals in the speech. Under the front-page headline "Muslims See Obama Shifting Attitude, Policy," the Saudi Gazette says Muslims greeted Obama’s speech "as a mark of a changed American attitude toward them and a new policy on the Middle East."
The Jordan Times reports that "several intellectuals" it interviewed yesterday said Obama’s speech "was marked by courage and balance, adding that it will help push peace efforts in the Middle East forward as he renewed commitment to creating a Palestinian state and assured the Israelis of continued US support at the same time."
The Egyptian Gazette says the President received "thunderous applause" from the audience as he "sought to share the blame for tense relationships between the US and some Muslims" in his address.
The Wall Street Journal notes that "Obama didn’t use the word terrorist, in marked contrast to his predecessor, George W. Bush, who defined much of his foreign policy as a ‘war on terrorism.’ But Mr. Obama noted a common enemy in extremism of all stripes." The Politico also notes that "Obama managed never to utter the one word that comes to mind most often when many Americans think about Islam: terrorism."
The Cairo Deception
Posted: 05 Jun 2009 10:35 AM PDT
By Gary Bauer
It was tough to begin this day by watching President Obama destroy history, undermine Israel and bow, this time rhetorically, to Islam during his speech at Cairo University. Below are some examples and my reactions.
OBAMA: “…America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”
REACTION: Tolerance? Dignity? Islamic countries dominate the list of top human rights violators in the world. Throughout much of the Middle East, Christians live in fear and Jews can’t live at all.
OBAMA: “I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America’s story. …And when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers – Thomas Jefferson – kept in his personal library.”
REACTION: Nice try, Mr. President. Thomas Jefferson kept a copy of the Koran at least in part because he wanted to understand what part Islam played in motivating the jihadists of his age – the so called Barbary pirates – in America’s first encounter with Islam and the first time we sent troops into combat overseas.
OBAMA: “Given our interdependence, any world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will inevitably fail.”
REACTION: Thank you, President Obama, for that clear statement of cultural and moral relativism that infects so many of our elites and obviously shapes the way you deal with the world. So you want a world order, where no nation or group is elevated over another, where America is to be considered no better than North Korea, Syria, or Iran.
All cultures and nations are not equal. Some believe in liberty and the dignity of individuals. Some believe people are cattle to be herded by government. That you don’t understand that your own nation is preferable and better than the thug states of the world is tragic and dangerous. How I long for the days when President Reagan regularly reminded us that we were to be a “shining city upon a hill.”
OBAMA: “On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people – Muslims and Christians – have suffered in pursuit of a homeland. For more than sixty years they have endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead.
REACTION: The president here repeats a central tenet of Palestinian propaganda. Israel did not evict Muslim Palestinians – Arab League nations ordered them to leave. Nearly 20% of Israel today is Muslim. Nowhere does the president mention the Jewish refugees forced to flee to Israel. Nor did he mention that it is Arab Muslim countries that keep Palestinians in refugee camps rather than inviting and integrating them into their own countries.
OBAMA: “All of us have a responsibility to work for the day … when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians and Muslims, and a place for all of the children of Abraham to mingle peacefully together.”
REACTION: Don’t miss the significance of this statement. Here Obama is calling for turning Jerusalem, which has always been home for Jews, into an international city under control of who? The U.N.? The E.U.? All religions have access to Jerusalem now, because Israel, unlike its neighbors, is tolerant.
OBAMA: “That is why we are forging service projects in America that bring together Christians, Muslims, and Jews. That is why we welcome efforts like Saudi Arabian King Abdullah’s interfaith dialogue and Turkey’s leadership in the Alliance of Civilizations.”
REACTION: Yet another big wet kiss from the president for King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, a country that will not permit a Bible to be displayed nor allow an infidel to set foot in its “holy” cities.
OBAMA: “Hamas does have support among some Palestinians, but they also have responsibilities. To play a role in fulfilling Palestinian aspirations, and to unify the Palestinian people, Hamas must put an end to violence, recognize past agreements, and recognize Israel’s right to exist.”
REACTION: Here the president extends an olive branch to one of the most bloodthirsty terror groups in the Middle East. The only “aspiration” Hamas is interested in fulfilling is the destruction of Israel and the eviction of the U.S. from the Middle East. And notice when the president says that Hamas must recognize Israel’s right to exist, he very tellingly leaves off the most important phrase “as a Jewish state.” Hamas will never recognize the right of Jews to have one nation.
Analysis of the Cairo Speech
Posted: 08 Jun 2009 09:39 AM PDT
By Joel Rosenberg
President Obama visiting the pyramids in Cairo last week. He failed to build an Arab-Israeli alliance to stop Iran’s nuclear program. History may not forgive him.
UPDATE: Netanyahu to deliver response to President’s Cairo speech
To be honest, it’s taken me several days to process President Obama’s speech in Cairo. But let me offer a bit of analysis now that I’ve had a little more time to think about it carefully.
First, the good news:
It was important for the President of the United States to reach out to moderate Muslims — to the Reformers, as I describe them in Inside The Revolution — and explain America’s desire to understand them, encourage them, and help them succeed.
The vast, vast majority of the world’s 1.3 billion-plus Muslims are not Radicals. They may not necessarily love the U.S., or Israel or the West, but they are not jihadists. They don’t want their children to be suicide bombers. They don’t believe in genocide. They want to live in peace and freedom. They want the opportunity to carve out a better life for themselves and their children. This is empirically true. And it should be acknowledged by President Obama as it was repeatedly by President Bush.
It was important for the President of the United States to speak out on religious freedom and the fundamental human right for all people everywhere to be free to choose their religion for themselves. He did so, and it was good.
It was also important for the President of the United States — especially one now openly acknowledging his Muslim roots and his upbringing in the Muslim world — to stand before a Muslim audience in an Arab capital and defend Israel’s right to exist and explain the horrors of the Holocaust.
He did so.
And then, of course, he went on to the Nazi death camp at Buchenwald with Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to denounce such evil against Jews and against humanity, and vow never to let it happen again. “We’ve seen genocide,” President Obama said at Buchenwald, a speech that was written as a corollary to Cairo.
“We’ve seen mass graves and the ashes of villages burned to the ground; children used as soldiers and rape used as a weapon of war. This places teaches us that we must be ever vigilant about the spread of evil in our own time, that we must reject the false comfort that others’ suffering is not our problem and commit ourselves to resisting those who would subjugate others to serve their own interests.” This was good.
Now, the bad news:
President Obama failed to use the words “terrorist” or “terrorism.”
The President failed to discuss the 30th anniversary of the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty negotiated at Camp David with the help of American President Jimmy Carter.
This was the only shining moment in the Carter years, and a great blessing to all the people of the Middle East. Why avoid even mention of it, much less detailed explanation of it, when peace is what you say you’re pursuing?
The President sounded apologetic for America’s role in the Muslim world in recent years. He didn’t explain that Americans have fought to defend the lives of oppressed Muslims in the former Yugoslavia, or in Iraq, or in Afghanistan.
He didn’t note that Americans have helped liberate more than 50 million Muslims from totalitarian tyrants just since 2001. This was not simply a missed opportunity. It appeared to be a conscious choice, part of the President’s “apologize for America” tour that he has been making around the world since his inaugural.
This was not good; it was offensive.
President Obama did defend Israel’s right to exist, but then proceeded to create a moral equivalence between the Israelis and the Palestinians with regards to the peace process.
Let’s be clear: the Palestinians are souls made in God’s image. They deserve dignity and respect and the freedom to govern their daily lives free from Israeli interference. But if they had wanted a sovereign state they could have accepted the U.N. Partition Plan in 1947, like the Jews did.
They didn’t, and they lost.
They could have accepted any one of the numerous deals Israel has offered over the past six decades, including then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s offer at Camp David in 2000 for the Palestinians to have a sovereign state, half the city of Jerusalem, all of Gaza and about 93% of the West Bank.
But they didn’t.
Instead, the Palestinians continue to miss every opportunity to miss every opportunity. Rather than accept Israeli offers and build a state, they have sent waves of terrorists, suicide bombers and tens of thousands of rockets and missiles at the Israelis.
In so doing, they have forfeited any shred of trust the Israelis once had in them. The President should have explained this. He should have noted that Israel gave the Palestinians Gaza as an act of goodwill, and Hamas squandered all of that goodwill by firing more than 10,000 missiles, mortars and rockets at southern Israel and turning Gaza into a terror base camp.
But he didn’t.
President Obama made it sound like Israel is the obstacle to peace, when this is simply not true.
Most concerning, the President did not truly lay down the law with Iran. He did not go to Cairo to forge an Arab-Israeli alliance against the apocalyptic, genocidal death cult leaders currently running Iran.
He did not explain who the current regime in Iran is. It’s not even clear President Obama has been adequately briefed about the Iranian leadership’s End Times beliefs or how such eschatology is driving Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them.
The President continues to view Iran as though our 30 year-old tensions with them are: a) our fault; and b) just one big misunderstanding. The truth is: we didn’t seize their embassy in 1979; they seized ours.
We didn’t hold their diplomats hostage and torture and humiliate them; they held, tortured and humiliated ours. We didn’t create Hezbollah as a violent terrorist group dedicated to killing Christians and Jews en masse;
We are not calling for Israel to be wiped off the map;
We are not denying the Holocaust, while preparing to create another Holocaust; they are.
We are not calling for Iran to be annihilated; they are calling for the U.S. to be annihilated.
We don’t believe we need to kill anyone to bring about the Messiah; the Iranian leaders believe they need to kill tens of millions of people to bring about their messiah.
Yet Tehran could breathe a sigh of relief after the Cairo speech, because it was crystal clear that President Obama walks softly and carries no stick at all.
Evidence that the Cairo speech has already utterly failed to move Tehran to begin serious negotiations: Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had this response: “The nations in the region hate the United States from the bottom of their hearts because they have seen violence, military intervention and discrimination…one cannot remove this deep hatred by words, speeches and slogans.”

Pravda Mourns Demise of U.S. Capitalism

A commentary published in the once-official newspaper of the Soviet Union heralded America’s “descent into Marxism” citing the United States’ takeover of General Motors, poor education standards, and the election of Barack Obama as president.
The opinion piece in Pravda, one of the Soviet-era newspapers still published in Russia, carried the headline, “American Capitalism Gone with a Whimper,” and was written by Stanislav Mishin, who runs the blog “Mat Rodina.”
“It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath-taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hopeless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people,” wrote Mishin.
The article claimed that America’s descent took place in three stages:
“First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather than the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than the drama in D.C. that directly affects their lives.”
Secondly, “their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different ‘branches and denominations’ were for the most part little more than Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega-churches were more than happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the ‘winning’ side of one pseudo-Marxist politician or another.”
It continued, “Their flocks would reject Christ in hopes of earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.”
“The final collapse,” said the Pravda article, “has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history, but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemer Republican and at worst Zimbabwe.”
Elaborating on the Obama administration’s now-dominant control over General Motors, Mishin mentioned the firing of its CEO by the administration and now its “‘bold’ move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies.”
Russian “Prime Minister Putin, less than two months ago, warned Obama and UK’s Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster,” the article said.
Obama vs. Israel

By Gary Bauer
So far in his five months as president, the only country President Obama has been willing to confront is Israel, which also happens to be our only ally in the Middle East that shares our values. Obama has demanded an end to the building of homes for Israelis in Judea and Samaria, and has insisted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorse a Palestinian state.
Netanyahu responded yesterday with his own major speech.
He said Israel will accept a Palestinian state as long as it accepts Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish State. He made it clear Jerusalem will remain the undivided capitol of Israel. He made it clear that any future Palestinian State must be demilitarized so that it does not turn into another launching pad for attacks on Israeli civilians. He invited the Palestinians to turn away from hatred and war and join with Israel to grow the economy and provide opportunities for everyone.
The reaction: Major Palestinian leaders said they will never accept Israel as a Jewish State, and they threatened another “intifada,” or terror campaign. The reaction proves that Obama was wrong yet again. The obstacle to peace in the Middle East is not Israel or Jews in Judea. The obstacle to peace is Palestinian hatred and Islamic extremism.
Tisha B’Av and Sovereignty on the Temple Mount
Posted: 29 Jul 2009 10:35 AM PDT
from Koinonia House
The Hebrew day of great tragedies, Tisha b’Av, falls at sundown this Wednesday,
July 29. In remembrance, the Knesset has turned its focus to the Temple Mount, dominated by
the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. While the Temple Mount is Judaism’s holiest
site, Jews are not permitted to worship on the mount itself for fear of inciting a riot by Muslims.
Tisha b’Av is simply Hebrew for the 9th day of the month of Av. Many disasters have
befallen the Jews on this day throughout history. According to Jewish tradition, this was the day
that God told the Children of Israel they were prohibited from entering the Promised Land
because of disbelief. They were forced to wander in the desert forty more years until that adult
generation had died out. That tragic day was just the beginning…
On the 9th of Av in:
586 BC, Solomon’s Temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, and the Babylonian captivity
AD 70, the Second Temple, which stood during Christ’s ministry, was destroyed by the Romans
precisely as Jesus predicted in Luke 19;
AD 135, the famous Bar Kokhba revolt was squelched when Bethar, the last Jewish stronghold,
fell to the Romans;
AD 136, the Roman Emperor Hadrian established a heathen temple to Jupiter on the site of the
Jewish Temple. Hadrian rebuilt Jerusalem as a pagan city, and renamed the land as Palestina, to
distance its Jewish heritage. The date when the Temple area was plowed under by the Romans
was the 9th of Av.
The day has continued to be associated with grief for the Jewish people throughout
history. For example, Pope Urban II declared the Crusades on the 9th of Av in 1242. The Jews
were expelled from Spain in 1492 on this day, and in 1942, the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto were
mass deported to the Treblinka extermination camp in Poland. Thus the 9th of Av, Tisha B’Av,
has become a symbol of all the persecutions and misfortunes of the Jewish people, for the loss
of their national independence and their sufferings in exile. Above all, it is a day of intense
mourning for the destruction of the Temple.
This week, Israel’s Knesset has taken a longing look once again toward the Temple
Mount. Israel has technically controlled the site since the Six-Day War in 1967, but the Waqf,
a Muslim council, manages the site. Israeli law is supposed to protect free access to the site, but
the Israeli government enforces a ban on any non-Muslim prayer on the Temple Mount in order
to avoid Muslim riots. The Knesset members took time this week to discuss the Temple Mount
and the approach Israel should take on this holy site in today’s world. In the first session, Dr.
Mordechai Keidar commented on the lack of a Palestinian connection to the Temple Mount,
"Jerusalem does not appear in the Koran, not even once, not even in any one of the four
different names the city has in Arabic. The struggle for Jerusalem is not territorial, it’s theological.
Is Judaism still a relevant religion, or do we give in to the Muslim claim that Judaism is no longer
relevant? And that’s why we heard from PA official Saeb Erekat not long ago that they will not
recognize the State of Israel as a Jewish state even in 1000 years.
Why is this?
Because Judaism in their eyes is irrelevant, so how could a Jewish state be founded?"
Keidar also noted that the Palestinians are not moderate on the issue of Jerusalem and
the Temple Mount, but claim it as their own. He held up a PLO traditional garment, which bore
the words, "Jerusalem is ours."
A Chabad rabbi who spoke argued that Israel would do well to lay a firm claim to
sovereignty on the Temple Mount, believing that doing so would not harm Israel but would in fact
win friends. "When you tell the nations of the world the truth, not only will they stop fighting against
you, but they’ll even join forces with you," he explained.
East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount have been points of major contention in past
efforts to negotiate a two-state agreement. The Palestinians want East Jerusalem, and the Jews
do not want to give up this location that is so precious to Judaism. The world would never
expect the Muslims to hand over control of the Kaaba in Mecca in order to keep peace, but the
Jews are not free to worship on their holiest site because they fear Muslim violence. Knesset
members spoke out in favor of educating people about the importance of the Temple Mount to
Tisha b’Av is indeed a day of mourning. It is marked with sadness and fasting from
food and drink. Observant Jews avoid bathing or washing clothes or enjoying entertainment like
music or movies, and the Book of Lamentations is traditionally read both in the evening and
during the day. On this day the Jews are reminded of their tragic history.
Yet, this day is also expressly linked with Israel’s glorious destiny. The Jews also look
forward to the ultimate rebuilding of the Temple, to a time when Tisha b’Av will become a day
of joy and gladness (as it was foretold in Zechariah 8:19).
We do know that the Temple will be rebuilt because Jesus, John, and Paul all make
reference to it. But we also know that this Temple will be desecrated by the Coming World
Leader when he sets himself up to be worshiped. It is possible this prophetic event will also take
place on Tisha b’Av – and may happen in the not-too-distant future.
The Religious Un-Religioius
by The Berean Call
Although secular society is supposed to be free from religion, it doesn’t take much examination
to see evidence of much religious thought and sentiment. Consider the reactions of secular news
reporters and broadcasters concerning the president.
"Barack’s appeal is actually messianic… he… communicates God-like energy… What if God
decided to incarnate as men preaching ‘hope and change.’ And what if we… let them slip away,
not availing ourselves… to be led by God!" (Barack’s appeal is actually messianic, Steve Davis,
March 31, 2008, Journal Gazette).
"This is bigger than Kennedy. . . . This is the New Testament! I felt this thrill going up my leg. I
mean, I don’t have that too often. No, seriously. It’s a dramatic event" (Chris Matthews,
MSNBC, February 12, 2008).
"Does it not feel as if some special hand is guiding Obama on his journey, I mean, as he has said,
the utter improbability of it all?" (Daily Kos, Sat Apr 26, 2008).
"Obama, to me, must be not just an ordinary human being but indeed an Advanced Soul, come
to lead America out of this mess" (Lynn Sweet, Chicago Sun Times, March 21, 2008).
"He is not operating on the same plane as ordinary politicians…the agent of transformation in an
age of revolution, as a figure uniquely qualified to open the door to the 21st century" ([Former
U.S. Senator] Gary Hart, Huffington Post February 13, 2008).
"He is not the Word made flesh, but the triumph of word over flesh…Obama is, at his best, able
to call us back to our highest selves" ("Obama’s Gift", by Ezra Klein. January 3, 2008).
"Obama has the capacity to summon heroic forces from the spiritual depths of ordinary citizens
and to unleash therefrom a symphonic chorus of unique creative acts whose common purpose
is to tame the soul and alleviate the great challenges facing mankind" ("Obama: On Toughness
and Success in Politics by Gerald Campbell. First Things First, December 22, 2007).
[TBC: If so much adulation is accorded an earthly politician, imagine that generated in response
to another leader who is prophesied to come. "And they worshiped the dragon which gave
power to the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like to the beast? who is
able to make war with him? (Rev 13:4). "...and all the world wondered after the beast"

Why the "Epicenter" Could Shake the World Sooner Than You Think

There is a lot of speculation these days about Israel’s recent missile class warships sailing
It does not help to have America’s president tell Jewish leaders, as he did last week, that they although the Bible says just the opposite will be the case), when Iranian nukes are being designed to fly down smokestacks in Tel Aviv and Haifa, America’s president is lecturing and scolding Israel and telling her to "engage in self-reflection"?
I suggest President Obama exercise some of his own self-reflection!
(Also see Ezekiel 38:22, 23 for more of God’s miraculous intervention when no nations come to Israel’s defense.)
American Jews who voted overwhelmingly to elect Obama should not remain silent. They are entitled to press him to adhere to his commitment and treat the Jewish state in an even-handed manner. Together with other friends of Israel, they should discourage Obama from offering Israel as a sacrificial lamb on the altar of Arab appeasement.
In urging Obama not to abandon Israel, they would also be promoting the U.S. national interest. History cannot point to a single instance in which appeasement of jihadists or tyrants has ever borne fruit. Yet appeasement seems to be Obama’s middle name.
John Lennon would be happy were he still alive. The world’s superpower, America, just loves to give peace a chance in all the wrong places.
Keep your eyes on the epicenter. It could literally explode in the coming weeks or months. Israel must act quickly no matter what the cost.
The Future of Babylon

by Koinonia House
Babylon is on its way toward popularity once again. A mere 2600 years ago, Babylon stood as the greatest city on earth, the capital of the world. The grandeur of the mighty city can be vaguely imagined by gazing on the heaps of broken rock at its ancient site on the Euphrates River.
Now, the Iraqi and US governments are preparing to develop the area as a tourist attraction. While promoting tourism may not rebuild Babylon, it will bring money into the country and provide plenty of industry to the local populations. And it may bring Babylon into the public mind once again.
The security has improved drastically in the Babil province around ancient Babylon, and that offers the community some opportunities. The local people live on one of the greatest historical sites of all time. Babylon is where Nebuchadnezzar II built the Hanging Gardens and where Alexander the Great died.
Millennia before that, mankind attempted to build a tower "whose
top may reach unto heaven" (Genesis 11:4), and as a result, their languages were confused
and they were scattered over the face of the earth.
The area is appropriately called the "cradle of civilization."
Promoting tourism would be a great way to bring revenue into the area. A stream of tourists interested in the ruins of ancient Babylon would bolster the local hotels and the food and
The US State Department and the Iraqi Board of Antiquities and
Heritage are beginning work on the Future of Babylon Project, to preserve the ruins of ancient Babylon and make the area tourist-friendly.
Babylon in its current form is a mere shadow of its former self. The Ishtar Gate has been in Berlin since WWI. Artifacts have been whisked away to various museums and private collections.
The site has been badly looted, and Saddam Hussein built a city for his glory on the site of ancient Babylon as an effort to connect himself to Nebuchadnezzar and the greatness of the past. New walls were built around the ancient city, and Saddam also built fortifications on top of Babylon’s ruins.
"Some of the past restoration work hasn’t been very good," said Jeff Allen, hired by the US State Department to co-run the US side of the project. "Saddam was trying to inherit the power of the ancients and continue that legacy. His restoration methods helped reinforce that vision of himself, and he created a pattern of restoration and repair work that benefited a
Allen wants to ensure that the local people are involved in the project, so that when things are up and running the locals can manage without outside help.
Revelation 18 describes Babylon in the last times as a great city, filled with wickedness, a city
that has become "the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit."
Babylon is destined for judgment.
The prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah each spend two chapters detailing the catastrophic destruction that awaits this fabled city. The result of this final devastation will leave it uninhabitable; even the building materials will never be reused.
Whether these references are to a literal city of Babylon on the banks of the Euphrates is the subject of great debate. We do know that ancient Babylon was not destroyed, but was overthrown by the Medes and the Persians quite peacefully one night.
If we take the Bible seriously, Babylon is destined to rise again to power to receive the judgment that Isaiah, Jeremiah, and the Apostle John have described. To learn more, check out our topical Bible study titled The Mystery of Babylon: An Alternative View.
That Sinking Feeling

This is reprinted from Little India.
The steady drumbeat of good news is getting infectious. The Dow Jones has rallied almost 40 percent from its bottom on March 9. The Federal Reserve expects the economy to pick up in the second half of this year.
Home sales rose 11% in June and corporate profits strengthened in the second quarter. Pres. Barack Obama has signaled signs of “green shoots” on the economic landscape. Alan Blinder, the former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, recently pronounced in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, “The Economy Has Hit Bottom.”
The Aug. 3 cover story in Newsweek went even further, declaring boldly, “The Recession is Over.”
But before you get giddy, several economists caution that we may be witnessing a false lull before the storm, that the temporary economic boost is propelled by the nearly $1 trillion infusion of government bailout money to financial institutions and the economic stimulus package.
They fear that we are on the verge of a double dip recession and that the second recession could be longer and deeper.
A handful of prominent investment and trend analysts and scholars are decidedly alarmist, even projecting a depression that will rival the Great Depression of 1929. Gerald Celente, founder of The Trends Research Institute, which the Los Angeles Times once described as the “Standard and Poors of Popular Culture,” forecasts “Food riots, tax protests, farmer rebellions, student revolts, squatter digins, homeless uprisings, tent cities, ghost malls, general strikes, bossnappings, kidnappings, industrial saboteurs, gang warfare, mob rule, terror” by 2012 in the latest edition of The Trends Journal.
Truth is, economic forecasting is a hazardous business even in less rockier times. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke recently quipped at a public town hall, “Economic forecasting makes weather forecasting look like physics.”
These days many economic indicators are defying both logic and historical patterns. It is the reason why, despite many reassuring economic signals in recent weeks, national anxiety remains palpable.
To gauge the view from the other side, Little India turned to Celente and three other prominent advocates of the counter intuitive perspective: investor advocate Martin Weiss, author of New York Times bestseller, The Ultimate Depression Survival Guide; economic forecaster Harry S. Dent, author of another New York Times bestseller The Great Depression Ahead; and Southern Methodist University economist Ravi Batra, author of The New Golden Age: The Coming Revolution Against Political Corruption and Economic Chaos.
Still Got Two Eyes
Trends analyst Gerald Celente, founder of The Trends Research Institute and publisher of The Trends Journal, built his reputation by accurately predicting the 1987 stock market crash, the 1997 Asian economic crisis and the “Panic of ’08.” He has attracted both attention and ire in recent months with his increasingly dire projections, which he titled as “Obamageddon.”
In the latest The Trends Journal you make very dire predictions of tent cities, food riots and tax rebellion by 2012. Do you still envisage conditions will be as bad as you were projecting?
Economists now predicting recovery are the same people that were saying recession wasn’t here even when we were in recession. Go back to the campaign in 2008, they didn’t start talking about the recession until the Fall of 2008 even though the recession began in December 2007.
These are the same people talking about green shoots a couple of months ago and as you go back to the beginning of the year, they said we would be in recovery by second quarter of 2009. The Obama administration, which began with a stimulus package, had estimated that without the stimulus package, unemployment in 2009 would be at 8%.
We had a stimulus package and unemployment is at 9.5%. They had also said that they would create by mid-year 600,000 jobs and we lost 2.5 million. At best, at best, they saved 150,000. All their forecasts are wrong. There is nothing they have forecast economically that has come to pass.
But the improving signs of bank profits and new financial earnings reports, don’t give you hope? (There is only ONE hope, and thats Jesus Christ!)
Let’s look at the bank reports. We know that hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money has been given to the banks and they refuse (this is like fiction), to tell the people (the taxpayer) who gave them money, where the money went, how they are spending it.
If you gave me, as they gave Goldman Sachs, $13 billion to cover losses with AIG – 100% coverage of losses – converting Goldman Sachs from a brokerage firm to a bank holding company, giving them access to $10 billion, plus all the loans and benefits they are giving them at discount prices, could you show a profit?
These are profits that are pumped up by bailouts, rescue packages and stimulus plans. Yesterday the market went up because Caterpillar showed better earnings than they had thought, or rather losses less severe. They are not better off; their profits are off 66%. Who in the real world wouldn’t call that depression level results? I would consider that atrocious. What you didn’t have a 77% decline? Oh, you only lost one arm and a leg, but you still got your two eyes and the use of one leg!
You have said this bailout bubble can be more lethal than the earlier bubbles. Can you explain?
In The Trends Journal in 2004 we predicted the great recession. We noticed it would happen. It was very easy to see that after the dot com crash in March 2000, rather than letting Wall Street take its $5 trillion worth of speculative losses that were built up by the dot com boom, the Federal Reserve began to lower the interest rates to 46-year lows. They created this borrow-and-spend mentality that was unprecedented in American history.
You want to buy a new house, borrow on your old one; with your new equity loan, you can build that new addition, go on a vacation, buy a new car, send your kids to school, go on a shopping spree. Your house is a piggy bank.
So housing as an asset became artificially inflated by the availability of historically cheap money rather than letting the bubble burst. With the bailout bubble, they have added $13 trillion worth of phantom money. This isn’t real money, it is phantom money printed out of thin air, based on nothing, backed by nothing. So they are creating a bubble, but when this financial/real estate bubble bursts, it is worse than the dot com bubble, because now government has an equity position in these companies, and they have government executive powers and management controls. This is unheard of in American history. This used to be the entrepreneurial empire of the world, that so much of the world respected and revered as the capital of entrepreneurism. No more.
You developed a fair amount of credibility in the media with your previously accurate predictions. But some of the things you are saying sound shrill. Do you really believe it will be as extreme as you are saying or are you trying to pierce through the clutter of the positive blather?
Not at all. We take what they are saying to be extreme. How could people believe these people when everything they said is wrong. If you can show me they are right here, I’ll say fine, we’re only humans, we all make mistakes. But we can say with all certainty, and we say it over and over again, you cannot print phantom money out of thin air based on nothing, backed by nothing without destroying the economy. Look at Brazil, India, China, Russia, the BRIC countries, they all talk now about another reserve currency.
But when you say food riots, tent cities and tax rebellions?
Tax rebellions, let’s take that. Go back to 2007, we wrote about tax revolts when George Bush was president. We saw this coming. Current events inform future trends. They are squeezing the people at every level. Look at what is happening in California. Tax rebellion is already happening. They are trying to downplay them when tea parties and tax protests happen.
This hasn’t happened in America before in my lifetime. And now they are commonplace. They happened in April and again on the 4th of July. This is just the beginning. Food riots, oh yes. When people get hungry, when they have nothing to eat, you are going to see a lot of ugly scenes happen in America.
What would you project the unemployment rate to be at end of 2009 and end of 2010?
It will probably be heading towards 11% by end 2009 and by 2010 it could well be into 12–13%.
Where would you project the Dow Jones?
We don’t know. The Dow Jones is a different game. It can go in any kind of direction. When you go to the Great Depression, you saw the Dow Jones improving. It is not an economic indicator, it is a casino.
When do you expect housing prices to bottom out?
It could be many years. It could be a decade. There are two buying seasons in America, Spring and Fall, period, paragraph. Spring buying season was a bust and Fall does not look any better. It is very dismal for the future.
Do you think our money is safe in U.S. banks?
We don’t give investment advice. I tell you what I do. I am a big believer in gold and I think Indians like gold. I hedge my money. In my business I need cash, so I spread it between euros and dollars, knowing that if euros go up, dollars go down, so I have parity. That is the investment strategy for right now, it is not to take risk, it’s wealth preservation….
We are looking at mid-August for some dire economic news. In the event there is dire economic news, there are more financial collapses, there is a probability that they may call a bank holiday. It is not unprecedented, it has been done in America before, Pres. Franklin Roosevelt did it .… So are banks safe?
It is not a question, are banks safe; it is a question, will they call a bank holiday, which they have done before? If they do, you will be restricted on how much money you can get out. They have done it in Argentina and other countries. Yes, you can get your money out, it’s FDIC insured. You just can’t get it out all at once and it may be devalued.
What do you do with your investments and retirement accounts?
I don’t have any. My investments are in the property and real estate I own. My retirement is all in gold.
What can people do to minimize their employment and other financial risks?
This whole mentality, this American mantra to shop until you drop, what kind of sick thinking is that?
The businesses that we believe are going to make it in this new climate are going to be ones that accentuate quality – less is more. In our study, the very best company that we see are the ones whose profits are down between 25–30%, that’s the best. The worst are down 70% .…
The other thing to consider is, why are you sending your child to college for an MBA, or a degree in communications, journalism, art, history?
As an economist what is going to be the return on the investment?
The college industrial complex is going to be one of the major economic collapses in the United States. They are producing students, retraining people for jobs that don’t exist. So unless you are in specialty fields in high-tech, health, engineering, alternative fuels, or smart areas that have more productive usage of resources, outside of those fields, the soft arts are going to be losers.
This country was built not on a mantra of shop until you drop. It was called Yankee frugality: use it up, wear it out, make it do, do without. Those are the kinds of things that need to be considered again.
At this stage what do you think are the greatest risks to the U.S. and the global economy?
The greatest risk on the economic end is the collapse of the U.S. dollar. That is the greatest risk that we see, because America has the ability to destroy the global financial system with these unprecedented bailouts, stimulus and rescue packages. Whoever heard of this before? They are jeopardizing the global economy. It is not saving it, it is jeopardizing it.
Are there other disruptive forces as well?
We are only looking at economic issues. Back in 2001, President Bush’s popularity rating was as low as President Obama’s is now. It was declining rapidly. I even remember word for word, because I was writing about it, what the American media were talking about. There was this Congressman Gary Condit and his aide, a young girl Chandra Levy, who was missing, and shark attacks. That was the news, that is all they were talking about in the summer of 2001 and Bush was off on vacation in Crawford, Tex., for months as America was still suffering from the fallout of the dotcom bubble burst.
Then all of a sudden on Sept. 11 the whole game changed. The war on terror began and Bush’s popularity skyrocketed. The same thing can happen here. Any wild card could happen and change the game at a minute’s notice and deflect people’s attention away from an economic policy failure, an economic policy that is doomed to fail.
Do you envisage that as conditions worsen, immigrants could face a backlash?
I don’t care what country it is, immigration is going to be a major issue because there is not going to be enough wealth to go around under the current system.
Do you know that the anti-marijuana laws in America grew mostly out of the Great Depression and they blamed the Mexican immigrants for all the heinous crime. They trumped up the problem and blamed it on the immigrants. They made it an immigrant issue, which had absolutely no foundation at all, either the danger of smoking marijuana or the problem being caused by the Mexicans.
But they blamed it on the Mexican immigrants and it was used as a pretext to have very severe anti-immigrant laws in place and they were of course also blaming them for undercutting the economy. So these trends are old. It’s just a new time and a new phase.
Do you think either political party could have made a difference?
No, it is like watching the World Wrestling Federation. They pretend to be arch-enemies on the stage. After the cameras go off, they do their deals together. There is very little difference between the two parties.

Today’s Youth–Walking Away From Truth
Posted: 26 Aug 2009 03:00 AM PDT
Why do young people walk away from the church after years of faithful attendance and involvement? The main reason may be that the curriculum used in most Sunday schools is simply telling Bible stories and not teaching how to defend the truths of Scripture.
A leader in his youth group, Andrew faithfully attended Sunday school every week. He was awarded a scholarship at a well-known university, but by the end of his first year in college, Andrew had renounced his faith.
Sadly, Andrew’s heartbreaking story is not unique. It is repeated in thousands of Christian homes every year.
In August 2006, Answers in Genesis-USA commissioned Britt Beemer from America’s Research Group to find out why young people were leaving the church. Respondents indicated that Sunday school materials were shallow and "irrelevant." Of those polled, 86% had begun to question the Bible by their high school years.
Of those who said they did not believe all the accounts in the Bible are true, 82% cited doubts about the Bible’s authority or its trustworthiness. What caused these people to doubt the Bible?
Where Have We Gone Wrong?
Basically, we have failed to teach our children to think biblically. In order to survive as believers in our culture, we must all recognize that God rules and speaks about every area of life (e.g., science, philosophy, ethics, history, government, sociology, and education), and not merely about an isolated area designated "religion."

My home state of Minnesota has lots of lakes, bitter cold, and Lutherans. Over 150 years ago, Scandinavians targeted this state and its climate, perhaps because it resembled their homeland. Ironically, the fathers and grandfathers of today’s Lutherans left Sweden back then because they saw corruption and bad doctrine within Lutheranism in Scandinavia. But these Lutheran immigrants built Bible-believing churches for future generations. No doubt they would be crushed at such a culmination of apostasy in recent years.
Wednesday, August 19, was an average day. It was cool with not enough humidity to stir up a storm. No unusual weather patterns were forecast in the Twin Cities’ metro area. As I was out driving, there were no tornado sirens. It was going to be a memorable day, nonetheless.
During the week, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) was holding its annual convention in downtown Minneapolis. Attendees were using the facilities of the Minneapolis Convention Center and Central Lutheran Church which is directly across the street.
At this year’s convention, a blatant pro-homosexual position validating "chaste" same-sex relationships was to be voted on. It was to be voted on at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 19.
Then for the first time in decades, a tornado touched down in downtown Minneapolis at, you guessed it, 2 pm. The tornado went through the western section of downtown, causing damage to the Central Lutheran Church building, which was being used as a central meeting place for the convention.
There was extensive roof damage at the Minneapolis Convention Center where the actual conference was assembled as well as votes on same-sex issues were actually cast. The church steeple on top of Central Lutheran Church was struck and split in two. It was left hanging upside down.
The church was built in 1929 and certainly has had no tornado activity near it to date.
Meteorologists agree that such activity in a downtown area is extremely rare. Many could not recall when this had last happened to an area of structural cement rather than suburban homes or rural areas.
The vote was delayed past 2 PM but it did pass that same day. It passed by just one vote and it acknowledged the validity of same-sex relationships that are "chaste, monogamous and lifelong."
There was a whirlwind outside of the convention center and inside — to the degree that one person said, "We trust that the weather is not a commentary on our work." Conservatives in the ELCA, also observing the weather aberration, said it could have been a warning from God and an expression of His anger.
The ELCA went on to vote two days later to allow homosexuals to serve as pastors. If the tornado was a warning from God — and we don’t know that it was, but one could make a case for it — those voting for abomination didn’t get the message.
While we have no final word from God as to whether He sent the tornado, we can observe how God treated rebellious people and nations throughout the Old Testament who would not turn away from sin. If God didn’t send the whirlwind, He did allow it. A holy God never approves of sanctioning sin and lifestyles that are destructive.
We can be sure of one message for it is right out of the Bible
A calamity happened near Jerusalem where 18 people were killed.
Jesus said, "Those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish" (Luke 13: 4-5).
Apostasy is allowed to remain rampant because the Bible is no longer preached in many churches. The liberal churches have plunging membership and ask why. It should be obvious that at least a remnant is not pleased with letting the world come into the church.
Additionally, churches are not preaching about God’s judgment today. Rather, it’s the gushy gospel with a God who doesn’t hold to biblical standards anymore or else the church has changed the standards. Some would say those standards are outdated. "What would Jesus do?" is a bumper sticker or bracelet but not a guideline for holy living.
However, today outfits like the ELCA even twist the words of Jesus. As the saying goes, the Ten Commandments are now the ten suggestions.
Lives were spared in this event, unlike the story in Luke 13.
God was gracious.
He is infinitely patient.
Nonetheless, on a day when no severe weather was predicted or expected, a tornado forms, baffling the weather experts, most saying they’ve never seen anything like it. It happens right in the heart of the city. As if steered by an unseen hand, it targets a convention center whose occupants are talking about condoning blatant sin.
To add emphasis, the hand then causes the tornado to tear into Central Lutheran Church just blocks away. This church was providing alcohol for attendees. Trees and homes just south of the downtown area had some damage.
God’s message is repent because none of us will otherwise escape God’s judgment. The message in many calamities is to repent while there is still time. I wonder if the ELCA delegates and leaders are even listening.
Since the vote on Friday I have heard from good Lutheran people who plan to leave the ELCA. May their vote with their feet send a message that urges others to follow them. The ELCA is likely not going to change, so lovers of truth and the Bible in all liberal denominations should take a cue from disgusted ELCA members now looking for a new church home.
God’s Word cannot be mocked and whether He was in the whirlwind or not, the message is clear. We serve a holy God who does not sanction wickedness.
Awaiting His return,
Glen Beck and the Neocons

by Charles H. Coppes | www.idpconsultinggroup.com
I have been watching Glenn Beck on the FOX Network for several weeks and I have had discussions with people regarding his bold journalism to expose the Obama administration and champion all-things-American. On the surface this is a bit refreshing but I have been suspicious from the beginning (along with other conservatives and patriots).
Beck left CNN (Time Warner) in late 2008 and re-emerged on FOX. Why the switch? Nobody knows. But I have an idea. CNN journalism is typically mainstream and the FOX channel is owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch (News Corp.) which presents itself as "fair and balanced" and "we report and you decide" and other such platitudes.
Rupert Murdoch is a member of the internationalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) which virtually runs the US State Department and presidential administrations as they come and go.
(see the explanation of CFR at http://www.hisbranch.com/CFR.html)
Murdoch is also a strong neoconservative supporter that champions "American exceptionalism" and US military imperialism. It is important to make a distinction with these terms. As the definition below notes, the term American exceptionalism did not emerge until after WWII.
Why was this?
Most certainly because the US was seen as the great liberator of Europe and the preception that US military campaigns are always noble and just. In the post-WWII period there has been a kind of blind patriotism that wants to support US military imperialism to defend "our freedoms, liberty, national security, etc."
Today’s Glenn Beck Show concluded with a montage of patriotic themes dating back to WWI and WWII along with our troops in Iraq and elsewhere. This finally compelled me to write this email to you. Here is a definition of American exceptionalism:
American exceptionalism (def. "exceptionalism") refers to the theory that the United States occupies a special niche among the nations of the world in terms of its national credo, historical evolution, political and religious institutions and unique origins.
The roots of the term are attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville, who claimed that the then-50-year-old United States held a special place among nations, because it was a country of immigrants and the first modern democracy.
The term itself did not emerge until after World War II when it was embraced by neoconservative pundits in what was described in the International Herald Tribune as "an ugly twist of late".
The doctrine of American exceptionalism has had a troubled history.
Where proponents see, by the force of the doctrine itself, an American nation with a special and superior world-historical role to play, opponents contend that the belief is "self-serving and jingoistic" (see slavery and civil rights issues, Western betrayal, and the failure to aid Jews fleeing the Nazis), that it is based on a myth, and that "[t]here is a growing refusal to accept" the idea of exceptionalism both nationally and internationally.
As we can see from the above there are some wonderful things that distinguish the US from other nations, but this same kind of exceptionalism has crept into our imperialistic foreign policy that is embraced by globalist and elitists who dominant our body politic – also known as the Liberal Eastern Establishment. I basically think that Glenn Beck is a pawn for the neoconservatives who control the media content for the FOX Network.
Is this a fair statement?
I think so and the proof is in his guests, media focus and sponsors like The Weekly Standard (flagship neoconservative newspaper). His guests include members of the CFR and even the managing director for Kissinger & Associates in New York Joshua Ramos Cooper (and never an inquiry about their affiliations). He has had on Michael Patrick Leahy (Tea Party Organizer) and Prof. Randy Barnett (who promote a Constitutional Convention – a long-term goal of the CFR).
Beck is now famous for his chalkboard lessons that diagram/outline interlocking Leftist organizations and key individuals in the Progressive Movement in America. This has been extremely insightful and has literally energized millions of couch potatoes to join a peasant uprising. But where is a weekly exercise in documenting America’s shadow government (which he expressly denies exists in his new book, p. 89-90) or the money powers that have existed since the days of Andrew Jackson?
How hard is it to draw up the interlocking affiliations with the CFR, Trilateral Commission, Bilderbergs, Group of 30, Club of Rome, Skull & Bones, Bohemian Grove and so on. (all of these groups stem from the original Babylonian Mystery Religion which is Satanic)
It’s all quite in the open and not that hard to find on the Internet or several published books. It should be obvious to all that Beck is only allowed to discuss certain things on the air. Heck, why not just a history lesson on the creation of the Federal Reserve System? This alone would prove a conspiracy because the Fed was created in total secret by the Wall Street money trust – the same powers that control both political parties and media today.
The following definition of neoconservatism is from an excerpt from my special report entitled Petrodollar Warfare and Collapse of US Dollar Imperialism in the 21st Century (pp. 8-10) and is available at my website at www.chuckcoppes.com:
It is basically understood that the term “neoconservative” is a reference to political moderates/liberals who merely appear as conservatives to the electorate. As Pat Buchanan remarked in his 2004 book Where the Right went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency, neocons are “liberals in sheep’s clothing.”
Neocons can trace their intellectual roots back to journalist/activists Irving Kristol and Norman Podhoretz in the early 1950s. As fellow Socialists and Trotskyists, they both rejected the hard Left and articulated a more “centrist” position. Irving Kristol is still a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, which dates back to 1943 with generous funding from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and ExxonMobile (www.aei.org).
After serving as chief of staff for William Bennett and Vice President Dan Quayle in the 1980s, William T. Kristol (son of Irving) founded The Weekly Standard when his fellow Bilderberg Group member Newt Gingrich won the GOP victory in 1995. The Weekly Standard is owned by News Corp. (FOX) with Bill Kristol as editor and Fred W. Barnes as executive editor along with Brit Hume and John Podhoretz (son of Norman) as contributors and others.
In 1997, Rupert Murdoch (CFR) helped Kristol launch the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) with a $10 million dollar grant. Kristol serves as chairman along with co-founder Robert Kagan who is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), and former speechwriter for George P. Schultz. Kristol is a regular guest on the Fox News Channel, which was bankrolled by Rupert Murdoch in 1996 after he hired Roger Ailes as his new CEO.
Roger Ailes was the former producer of Rush Limbaugh’s TV program in 1991, president of CNBC in 1992, and America’s Talking program at MSNBC in 1994 (now known as Hardball with Chris Matthews – a former aid to Tip O’Neill).
The Project for a New American Century is the premier think tank for neoconservative thought and foreign policy studies (www.newamericancentury.org).
Practically all of its membership and supporters are also members of the CFR
(like Irving Kristol and Norman Podohertz) and include Dick and Lynn Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Donald Kagan (Robert Kagan’s father), Norman Podohertz and his wife Midge Decter and their son-in-law Elliot Abrams, Bill Bennett, Dan Quayle, Steve Forbes, Jeb Bush, Paula Dobriansky, Fred Ikle, Gary J. Schmitt, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby and Paul D.Wolfowitz.
Scooter Libby sat under Professor Wolfowitz at Yale in 1970 and later followed Wolfowitz when he served as Director of Policy Planning at the State Dept.; as under Secretary of State with George Schultz; and as under Secretary of Defense with Defense Secretary Dick Cheney (1989-1993). Paul Wolfowitz is considered to be the architect of the Iraq War in 2003 and earned his PhD at the University of Chicago under political science professor Leo Strauss.
Professor Strauss taught that religion was “a pious fraud” and that only the “wise elite” were capable of governing. “There is only one natural right,” said Strauss, “the right of the superior to rule over the inferior….The people are told what they need to know and no more.”
Today, this Straussian philosophy is all-pervasive among the neocon class.
Notable supporters of this PNAC doctrine include Colin Powell, James A. Baker III, George Schultz, Henry Kissinger, Paul Bremer, Condoleezza Rice, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Richard Perle, Newt Gingrich, John Bolton, Robert Zoellick, James Woolsey (ex-CIA), Jeane Kirkpatrick, Richard Armitage, Zalmay Khalilzad, Karl Rove, Vin Weber, Ellen Bork, Michael Novak, Charles Krauthammer, Mort Kondracke, Brent Scowcroft, Lawrence Eagleburger and others.
The stated goals of the PNAC is to assert “American global leadership” and promote “a strategic vision of America’s role in the world.” American leaders “need to accept responsibility for America’s unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles” and “challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values.”
In order to maintain this international order “we need to increase defense spending significantly…and modernize our armed forces for the future.” We might want to ask whose principles, interests and values we are talking about here? Certainly not the principles of a “limited government” and a “humble” foreign policy.
This idea of unilaterally challenging regimes in a preemptive manner and policing the world with our military to establish a new international order sounds more like the old Roman Empire than a Constitutional Republic. (which is also prophesied as the rise of the Roman Empire and EEC)
In the 1990s this interventionist foreign policy was carried out in the Gulf War and the Balkans, and mostly in the interest of oil. British and US oil companies were both expressing interest in vast oil reserves believed to lie under the Caspian Sea off Baku near Kazakhstan in central Asia.
In his book The Grand Chessboard, Zbig Brzezinski noted the geostrategic importance of this region and was joined by Halliburton CEO Dick Cheney who said, “I cannot think of a time when we had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian.”
At issue was the Albanian-Macedonian-Bulgarian Oil Pipeline (AMBO) which had financing from the US and BP and needed further development. At this time Serbian (Yugoslav) president Slobodan Milosevic (a former banker) had become an “obstacle” to this progress.
Through the influence of Zbig Brzezinski (a paid lobbyist by BP and director of the CFR) and James Baker (former Secretary of State and legal counsel for the Baku interests of BP Amoco-Arco) the US exploited the ethnic strife in the Balkans and started bombing Serbian “civilian” targets in 1999 which led to 200,000 casualties and the removal of Milosevic.
In June 1999, the US government funded a feasibility study that was then handled by Dick Cheney’s firm. By 2001, the Pentagon finished construction of Camp Bond Steel in Kosovo (one of our largest military bases), and the US had complete control of the Balkans. The oil riches of the Caspian area was the primary reason for the US involvement in the Kosovo War. US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage would later comment that the “bombing dividend” was well worth it.
This kind of hawkish foreign policy is a good example of how the neocons employ military assets to serve “the principles, interests and values” of the corporate-military-industrial-petroleum lobby in order to secure a new international order friendly to the goals of US hegemony.
In late 2000, the PNAC issued a major policy study entitled “Rebuilding America’s Defense” that recognized that the US is the only superpower in the world and that “America’s grand strategy should aim to preserve and extend this advantageous position as far into the future as possible.” This 90-page manifesto went on to suggest that America’s idealistic youth must be able “to fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major-theatre wars” in order to preserve the “American peace.”
Of course, to accomplish this “military imperialism” the US must increase military spending “significantly” and modernize our armed forces. But how much is enough? In my own research I was literally stunned when I learned that the US has not only monopolized 70% of the world’s defense industry, we annually spend more on military defense (i.e., offense) than the next 42 nations combined (including China, Russia, Japan and the EU).
How much is this you ask?
The FY2008 Pentagon budget comes in at $502 billion and an additional $142 for the “war on terror,” which totals a whopping $644 billion! My friends, this is way beyond the legitimate needs for a normal defense budget. The US currently has 800 military bases in 65 countries and it is clear from this 2000 PNAC report that neocon strategists have been plotting for some time on a way to establish the ultimate military outpost in the Persian Gulf.
The report states:
The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein (emphasis added).
Iraq has been a target for occupation ever since the Gulf War in 1991, and this foreign policy agenda would soon become the top priority in the new Bush administration. This report goes on to identify Iraq, Iran and North Korea as special problem areas in the New American Century – long before President Bush singled them out as the “Axis of Evil” in his State of the Union address January 29, 2002.
Iraq takes on significance because of its strategic location in the Gulf and, of course, its vast oil reserves. As Paul Wolfowitz would later tell the foreign press in 2003, “The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economic-ally, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil.” The unresolved conflict with Iraq was never the issue of harboring WMD or terrorists, but how to conquer the 12th member of OPEC.
In the summer of 1998, George Bush, Sr. started putting together a foreign policy team to help advise his son as he was being groomed for the presidency. Bush, Sr. was introduced to Condoleezza Rice by Brent Scowcroft and was so impressed he made her a principal member of what came to be known as “The Vulcans” (named after a huge Vulcan statue in her hometown of Birmingham).
According to James Mann in his book Rise of the Vulcans: The History of Bush’s War Cabinet key members included Condi Rice, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, George Schultz, Paul Wolfowitz, Robert Zoellick, Richard Perle and Richard Armitage. This group held its first meeting in 1999 in Texas and continued to instruct Bush, Jr. (who was admittedly weak on the neo-con grand strategy for the 21st century) until the Bush-Cheney ticket won the presidency.
Once in the oval office Dick Cheney and James Baker handed out top cabinet positions to Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice and the rest of the Vulcans. The Bush presidency was never “hijacked” by the neocons; it was methodically engineered from the very beginning and carefully packaged as the conservative choice for naïve voters in 2000 and again in 2004.
Glenn Beck seems like a great guy and very likeable, but he has joined, or been invited to join, the FOX Network which is controlled by the neocons. I personally think that he is being exploited by the neocons to incite a Populist Movement in the US that also supports US military imperialism and other patriotic themes. It does literally no good at all to merely expose and trash the Loonie Left or heap scorn upon the Islamofascists or challenge the White House to a "debate" over the issues.
Our enemy – the real enemy – is the shadow government that has been controlling US foreign and domestic policy since Woodrow Wilson!! Need more proof? See the Cult section and CFR pages on this site.
America, by God’s grace, has been "exceptional" but that does not give us license to create an American Empire and project our military prowness around the globe. America is full of genuine conservatives, but this is not the same thing as "neconservatives."
Samuel Johnson said it well, "Patriotism is the refuge of a scoundrel." Thomas Paine said, "It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from the government." We have too much government and way too many scoundrels! Let’s keep our eye on the real battle and regard TV shows for what they are – entertainment and selling products.

President Obama’s first address to the United Nations General Assembly was not just a disappointment, it was dangerous.
Obama & Ahmadinejad’s dangerous speeches
Posted: 25 Sep 2009 06:53 AM PDT
by Joel Rosenberg
Weak on Iran. Hard on Israel. Virtually silent on Afghanistan.
The President effectively called for Israel’s capital city of Jerusalem to be divided, for Israel itself to be divided, and proposed no enforcement mechanism to stop Iran from getting the Bomb. This will only encourage the Radicals from Gaza City to Tehran.
Ahmadinejad’s speech was also dangerous, in a different way. The tone was low-key, quiet, deceitfully tame — it was clear he didn’t want to make splashy, provocative headlines this time around. The speech was aimed at temporarily mollifying critics (or at least not giving them fresh ammunition against him), and buying time so the West doesn’t act decisively and Iran can finish building nuclear weapons without interference. What’s so dangerous is this strategy is likely to work.
Noteworthy was that he didn’t end his address with a prayer to Allah asking him to hasten the coming of the Islamic Messiah, known as the "Twelfth Imam," or the "Mahdi," or the "just and promised One" as he did in 2005 and 2006. Nor did he open the speech by praying for the Allah to hasten the coming of the Islamic messiah, as he did in 2007. That said, Ahmadinejad’s address contained more references to the coming of the Mahdi than any of the others, including his 2008 speech which did build on this theme.
He referred twice to the Shia Islamic eschatological notion of "entezar." This is the capacity for a Shia Muslim to wait patiently for the coming of the Islamic Messiah.
Brzezinski suggests Obama shoot down Israeli jets
Posted: 26 Sep 2009 03:00 AM PDT
The national security adviser during President Jimmy Carter’s administration says the U.S. should confront Israeli jets if that nation chooses to take military action against Iran’s nuclear threat.
Zbigniew Brzezinski, in an interview with the Daily Beast website, declared, "We are not exactly impotent little babies."
Israel long has been thought to be considering a military strike against the Islamic regime’s suspected development of nuclear weapon technology. Israel has stated it is unwilling to be threatened by a leader with access to nuclear weapons who believes it should be wiped off the map, as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has declared.
But an Israeli attack on Iran probably would have to fly over coalition airspace in Iraq.
"Are we just going to sit there and watch?" Brzezinski asked.
He said the U.S. has to be "serious" about denying Israel the right to attack.
"That means a denial where you aren’t just saying it. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not," he said.
"No one wishes for this but it could be a Liberty in reverse," he said.
The Liberty was a U.S. ship in international waters in the Middle East during the Six-Day War in 1967 that was hit by Israeli gunfire.
Brzezinski advised Carter on confrontations in Iran, Afghanistan and the Middle East during Carter’s White House tenure.
He said the Obama administration also already should have developed "a clearer position on what we are prepared to do to promote a Palestinian-Israeli peace."
"Simply giving a frequent-traveler ticket to George Mitchell is not the same thing as policy. It took a long time to get going on Iran, but there is an excuse there, the Iranian domestic mess. And we are now eight months into the administration, and I would have thought by now we could have formulated a strategy that we would have considered ‘our’ strategy for dealing with Iran and Pakistan," he said.
"For example, the Carter administration, which is sometimes mocked, by now had in motion a policy of disarmament with the Russians, which the Russians didn’t like, but eventually bought; it had started a policy of normalization with the Chinese; it rammed through the Panama Canal treaty; and it was moving very, very openly toward an Israeli-Arab political peace initiative," he said.
WND columnist and New York Times best-selling author Mike Evans wrote about Brzezinski just before the 2008 election, explaining how Obama added Brzezinski to his list of "advisers."
"One of Brzezinski’s first jobs as adviser was to defend Obama’s plan, if elected, to meet with Iran and Syria: ‘What’s the hand-up about negotiating with the Syrians or Iranians?’ asked Brzezinski.
‘What it in effect means is that you only talk to people who agree with you.’
"People who agree with you?" wrote Evans. "I, for one, would like to know just why Obama would want to talk with Iran’s president who denies the Holocaust, has called Israel a ’stinking corpse’ and vowed to wipe it off the map."
WND columnist Ben Shapiro noted about that time Brzezinski "believes that the Jewish lobby forces America into pro-Israel policy, and he defends Carter’s anti-Semitic book, "Peace, Not Apartheid."
UN School Omitting Holocaust From Curriculum
Posted: 29 Sep 2009 10:03 AM PDT
from CNS News Service
Hamas Complains, So U.N. School Will Not Teach Gaza Students About Holocaust
In the United Nations school in Gaza City, A senior Hamas official has branded the Holocaust a "lie" and slammed plans by the United Nations to teach Gaza students about the Nazi genocide of 6 million Jews.
(One of the earliest evil plans of Satan the devil is to have people believe he dosen't exist. If the Holocaust didn't exist, Iran's threat against Israel would then seem more plausable to the anti-Christ movement described in prophecy; otherwise the people would see that Iran is just another Hitler rising and would not follow their regime.)
The United Nations’ refugee agency for Palestinians does not intend to include the Holocaust in the curriculum at schools it runs in the Gaza Strip, a U.N. spokesman said following criticism by Hamas about the purported plan.
While Hamas’ objections to including information on the Holocaust in school lesson plans was not particularly surprising, some Jewish organizations have taken issue with the U.N. for apparently backtracking in the face of the criticism from the terrorist group that rules Gaza.
The U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), operates more than 600 schools in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, with around 200,000 children enrolled in Gaza.
Early this week, a Hamas refugee committee wrote to the agency, complaining about what it said were plans to teach children in Gaza about the Holocaust.
Their response is absolutely prepostrous. Don't these ingrates read history? Have they ever read a magazine? Sounds like they are losing their freedoms, (probably never had any), just like we in the USA are losing ours. Must be the same group of people and their stupid ideas about the Jews and Christianiaty. These people like our own over here need to sit down and study up on the history of the USA and the Bible before they come up with their asinine comments and so-called theology and philosophys.)
"[We] refuse to let our children be taught this lie created by the Jews and intensified by their media," the letter read, according to the Palestinian news agency, Ma’an.
"First of all, [the Holocaust] is not a fact, and secondly, those who added it to the curriculum intended to mess with our children’s emotions."
But a spokesman for U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Farhan Haq, told a briefing in New York Tuesday that, according to UNRWA, "the Holocaust is not included in the curriculum in Gaza."
"In Gaza, as in all fields where UNRWA works, UNRWA utilizes the curriculum of the host countries as its core curriculum," Haq said.
Is Obama Prepared to Cede U.S. Sovereignty
Posted: 21 Oct 2009 02:00 PM PDT
The 1929 financial crash unfolded in just such a way as to inflict punishment. Every time stock investors thought it was safe to get back in the dance, they just lost more money. Every time consumers thought it was safe to start spending again, the job scene hit another low note. Businesses couldn’t hold a tune—they went bankrupt by the thousands.
Eight decades later, the question facing the world is this: Is the worst really over, or is it just the opening note of a very familiar hymn?
History repeats itself. Even if the lyrics are not exactly the same, this verse certainly rhymes with the first. Unfortunately, most people don’t know history.
Whistle a Happy Tune
Ask the average guy on the street. He is almost sure to tell you he has heard or read that the crisis is over.
The New York Times trumpeted: “Fed Chief Says Recession Is Very Likely Over” (September 15). Newsweek’s Daniel Gross confirmed: “I’m prepared to declare that the recession is really, most probably over” (July 14). Bloomberg and Forbes are whistling their own happy tunes proclaiming the end of the recession too.
The good times are back. Stocks will keep going up until 2010, said money manager John Dorfman. “On balance … I think the evidence favors continued gains.”
Sadly, it is all too familiar.
In 1930, the average person was singing that the worst was over too, as were many of the so-called experts.
“Green Lights Ahead,” cheered National Bank of the Republic (Chicago) Chairman G. Woodruff. “The red lights, through which our people last year drove, have changed” (Aug. 5, 1930).
Actually, the worst was only beginning.
From 1921 to 1929, the Dow Jones hummed from 60 to a high note of almost 400! The Great Crash of 1929 changed that. It swallowed 48 percent of stock market value in just a few days. But over the ensuing months, the market bounced back, reclaiming around half of its losses. Investors breathed a collective sigh of relief, and money managers loaded up the stocks again.
Then the stock market abruptly crashed again, sending both share prices and bankers into funeral dirges.
Over the next three years, the market would “sucker rally” a total of five times—only to plunge to new lows on each occasion. Yet with each new rally, the professionals invariably belted out that the crisis was over.
On Aug. 23, 1930, Moody’s Investors Service wrote regarding its prosperity index: “We are, therefore, inclined to regard the present level of business activity as the approximate level from which recovery will begin” (emphasis mine).
And the market plunged.
On Nov. 15, 1930, the Harvard Economic Review predicted: “We are now near the end of the declining phase of the Depression.”
And the market plunged again.
It would take more than three years of ups followed by dramatic downs before the Dow Jones would hit a real bottom—all the way back to around 50.
For the general economy, it took a decade of hopeful high notes and octave-dropping lows and finally a literal worldwide bloodbath to end the Depression.
Here is the point. Whether you look at the stock market, world industrial output or trade, the tune matches 1930. By some measures, things are even more discordant.
The Next Stanza
By March of this year, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had crashed by 53 percent from its highs. The corresponding fall in 1929 was 48 percent. The Dow has now subsequently rallied by 50 percent—just as it did 79 years ago. Where to next?
The stock market’s lengthy slump has ended at last, says popular Goldman Sachs soothsayer Abby Joseph Cohen. “We do think that the new bull market has begun.”
“There is little evidence to be cautious,” composed Citigroup strategist Tobias Levkovich.
Can you hear the pickup note to the next stanza? And the market plunged again.
Yet the stock market is not the only indicator that is in hurtful harmony with 1930.
According to the most recent data presented by VoxEU.org, an economic policy research center, world industrial production is also in uneasy unison with the 1930s fall. A look at the charts reveals a déjà vu nightmare chorus. Both the United States and Canada have seen their industrial production fall parallel to the 1929 crisis, as have Germany and Britain. Italy and France and Japan are doing much worse.
In the area of trade, our world is also worse off than that of our predecessors. Trade levels have fallen off a cliff. There are, however, some major differences between now and the first Great Depression.
In 1930 America was a producer. During that year, the U.S. produced 70 percent of the world’s oil, 60 percent of its wheat and cotton, 50 percent of copper, 40 percent of coal. Additionally, America held half of the world’s monetary gold reserves. Today, America is a net consumer, relying on other nations for energy supplies and strategic minerals such as oil and copper to meet demand.
America also used to be a creditor nation. But it has gone from being the world’s greatest lender nation to its greatest debtor—a situation that is getting worse by the day. America is spending money like it is going out of style. It has paid out more money combating the current recession than it has on any other event in history, including World War ii.
All the money might buy a little time—it might make the faux recovery last a bit longer—but it doesn’t really change anything. A problem caused by too much spending and debt cannot be fixed by more of the same.
Unfortunately, America looks like it is getting set up for a refrain. The excesses of the past two-plus decades have not been rectified during the past few short months. More punishment is on the way.
History is repeating; you can feel the rhythm. The crescendo awaits.
An Imperial Strategy for a New World Order: The Origins of World War III (Part 1)
Posted: 27 Oct 2009 07:21 AM PDT
by Andrew Gavin Marshall | Global Research, October 16, 2009
In the face of total global economic collapse, the prospects of a massive international war are increasing. Historically, periods of imperial decline and economic crisis are marked by increased international violence and war. The decline of the great European empires was marked by World War I and World War II, with the Great Depression taking place in the intermediary period.
Currently, the world is witnessing the decline of the American empire, itself a product born out of World War II. As the post-war imperial hegemon, America ran the international monetary system and reigned as champion and arbitrator of the global political economy.
To manage the global political economy, the US has created the single largest and most powerful military force in world history. Constant control over the global economy requires constant military presence and action.
Now that both the American empire and global political economy are in decline and collapse, the prospect of a violent end to the American imperial age is drastically increasing.
This essay is broken into three separate parts. The first part covers US-NATO geopolitical strategy since the end of the Cold War, at the beginning of the New World Order, outlining the western imperial strategy that led to the war in Yugoslavia and the “War on Terror.”
Part 2 analyzes the nature of “soft revolutions” or “colour revolutions” in US imperial strategy, focusing on establishing hegemony over Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Part 3 analyzes the nature of the imperial strategy to construct a New World Order, focusing on the increasing conflicts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa; and the potential these conflicts have for starting a new world war with China and Russia.
Defining a New Imperial Strategy
In 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, US-NATO foreign policy had to re-imagine its role in the world. The Cold War served as a means of justifying US imperialist expansion across the globe with the aim of “containing” the Soviet threat. NATO itself was created and existed for the sole purpose of forging an anti-Soviet alliance. With the USSR gone, NATO had no reason to exist, and the US had to find a new purpose for its imperialist strategy in the world.
In 1992, the US Defense Department, under the leadership of Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney [later to be George W. Bush’s VP], had the Pentagon’s Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Paul Wolfowitz [later to be George W. Bush’s Deputy Secretary of Defense and President of the World Bank], write up a defense document to guide American foreign policy in the post-Cold War era, commonly referred to as the “New World Order.”
The Defense Planning Guidance document was leaked in 1992, and revealed that, “In a broad new policy statement that is in its final drafting phase, the Defense Department asserts that America’s political and military mission in the post-cold-war era will be to ensure that no rival superpower is allowed to emerge in Western Europe, Asia or the territories of the former Soviet Union,” and that, “The classified document makes the case for a world dominated by one superpower whose position can be perpetuated by constructive behavior and sufficient military might to deter any nation or group of nations from challenging American primacy.”
Further, “the new draft sketches a world in which there is one dominant military power whose leaders ‘must maintain the mechanisms for deterring potential competitors from even aspiring to a larger regional or global role’.” Among the necessary challenges to American supremacy, the document “postulated regional wars against Iraq and North Korea,” and identified China and Russia as its major threats. It further “suggests that the United States could also consider extending to Eastern and Central European nations security commitments similar to those extended to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other Arab states along the Persian Gulf.”
NATO and Yugoslavia
The wars in Yugoslavia throughout the 1990s served as a justification for the continued existence of NATO in the world, and to expand American imperial interests in Eastern Europe.
The World Bank and IMF set the stage for the destabilization of Yugoslavia. After long-time dictator of Yugoslavia, Josip Tito, died in 1980, a leadership crisis developed. In 1982, American foreign policy officials organized a set of IMF and World Bank loans, under the newly created Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs), to handle the crisis of the $20 billion US debt. The effect of the loans, under the SAP, was that they “wreaked economic and political havoc… The economic crisis threatened political stability … it also threatened to aggravate simmering ethnic tensions.”
In 1989, Slobodan Milosevic became President of Serbia, the largest and most powerful of all the Yugoslav republics. Also in 1989, Yugoslavia’s Premier traveled to the US to meet President George H.W. Bush in order to negotiate another financial aid package. In 1990, the World Bank/IMF program began, and the Yugoslav state’s expenditures went towards debt repayment. As a result, social programs were dismantled, the currency devalued, wages frozen, and prices rose.
The “reforms fueled secessionist tendencies that fed on economic factors as well as ethnic divisions, virtually ensuring the de facto secession of the republic,” leading to Croatia and Slovenia’s succession in 1991.
In 1990, US the intelligence community released a National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), predicting that Yugoslavia would break apart, erupt in civil war, and the report then placed blame on Serbian President Milosevic for the coming destabilization.
In 1991, conflict broke out between Yugoslavia and Croatia, when it, too, declared independence. A ceasefire was reached in 1992. Yet, the Croats continued small military offensives until 1995, as well as participating in the war in Bosnia. In 1995, Operation Storm was undertaken by Croatia to try to retake the Krajina region. A Croatian general was recently put on trial at The Hague for war crimes during this battle, which was key to driving the Serbs out of Croatia and “cemented Croatian independence.” The US supported the operation and the CIA actively provided intelligence to Croat forces, leading to the displacement of between 150,000 and 200,000 Serbs, largely through means of murder, plundering, burning villages and ethnic cleansing. The Croatian Army was trained by US advisers, and the general on trial was even personally supported by the CIA.
The Clinton administration gave the “green light” to Iran to arm the Bosnian Muslims and “from 1992 to January 1996, there was an influx of Iranian weapons and advisers into Bosnia.” Further, “Iran, and other Muslim states, helped to bring Mujihadeen fighters into Bosnia to fight with the Muslims against the Serbs, ‘holy warriors’ from Afghanistan, Chechnya, Yemen and Algeria, some of whom had suspected links with Osama bin Laden’s training camps in Afghanistan.”
It was “Western intervention in the Balkans [that] exacerbated tensions and helped to sustain hostilities. By recognising the claims of separatist republics and groups in 1990/1991, Western elites – the American, British, French and German – undermined government structures in Yugoslavia, increased insecurities, inflamed conflict and heightened ethnic tensions. And by offering logistical support to various sides during the war, Western intervention sustained the conflict into the mid-1990s. Clinton’s choice of the Bosnian Muslims as a cause to champion on the international stage, and his administration’s demands that the UN arms embargo be lifted so that the Muslims and Croats could be armed against the Serbs, should be viewed in this light.”
During the war in Bosnia, there “was a vast secret conduit of weapons smuggling though Croatia. This was arranged by the clandestine agencies of the US, Turkey and Iran, together with a range of radical Islamist groups, including Afghan mojahedin and the pro-Iranian Hizbullah.” Further, “the secret services of Ukraine, Greece and Israel were busy arming the Bosnian Serbs.” Germany’s intelligence agency, the BND, also ran arms shipments to the Bosnian Muslims and Croatia to fight against the Serbs.
The US had influenced the war in the region in a variety of ways. As the Observer reported in 1995, a major facet of their involvement was through “Military Professional Resources Inc (MPRI), a Virginia-based American private company of retired generals and intelligence officers. The American embassy in Zagreb admits that MPRI is training the Croats, on licence from the US government.” Further, The Dutch “were convinced that US special forces were involved in training the Bosnian army and the Bosnian Croat Army (HVO).”
As far back as 1988, the leader of Croatia met with the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl to create “a joint policy to break up Yugoslavia,” and bring Slovenia and Croatia into the “German economic zone.” So, US Army officers were dispatched to Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, and Macedonia as “advisers” and brought in US Special Forces to help. During the nine-month cease-fire in the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, six US generals met with Bosnian army leaders to plan the Bosnian offensive that broke the cease-fire.
In 1996, the Albanian Mafia, in collaboration with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a militant guerilla organization, took control over the enormous Balkan heroin trafficking routes. The KLA was linked to former Afghan Mujaheddin fighters in Afghanistan, including Osama bin Laden.
In 1997, the KLA began fighting against Serbian forces, and in 1998, the US State Department removed the KLA from its list of terrorist organizations. Before and after 1998, the KLA was receiving arms, training and support from the US and NATO, and Clinton’s Secretary of State, Madeline Albright, had a close political relationship with KLA leader Hashim Thaci.
Both the CIA and German intelligence, the BND, supported the KLA terrorists in Yugoslavia prior to and after the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. The BND had KLA contacts since the early 1990s, the same period that the KLA was establishing its Al-Qaeda contacts. KLA members were trained by Osama bin Laden at training camps in Afghanistan. Even the UN stated that much of the violence that occurred came from KLA members, “especially those allied with Hashim Thaci.”
The March 1999 NATO bombing of Kosovo was justified on the pretense of putting an end to Serbian oppression of Kosovo Albanians, which was termed genocide. The Clinton Administration made claims that at least 100,000 Kosovo Albanians were missing and “may have been killed” by the Serbs. Bill Clinton personally compared events in Kosovo to the Holocaust. The US State Department had stated that up to 500,000 Albanians were feared dead. Eventually, the official estimate was reduced to 10,000, however, after exhaustive investigations, it was revealed that the death of less than 2,500 Albanians could be attributed to the Serbs. During the NATO bombing campaign, between 400 and 1,500 Serb civilians were killed, and NATO committed war crimes, including the bombing of a Serb TV station and a hospital.
In 2000, the US State Department, in cooperation with the American Enterprise Institute, AEI, held a conference on Euro-Atlantic integration in Slovakia. Among the participants were many heads of state, foreign affairs officials and ambassadors of various European states as well as UN and NATO officials. A letter of correspondence between a German politician present at the meeting and the German Chancellor, revealed the true nature of NATO’s campaign in Kosovo. The conference demanded a speedy declaration of independence for Kosovo, and that the war in Yugoslavia was waged in order to enlarge NATO, Serbia was to be excluded permanently from European development to justify a US military presence in the region, and expansion was ultimately designed to contain Russia.
Of great significance was that, “the war created a raison d’être for the continued existence of NATO in a post-Cold War world, as it desperately tried to justify its continued existence and desire for expansion.” Further, “The Russians had assumed NATO would dissolve at the end of the Cold War. Instead, not only has NATO expanded, it went to war over an internal dispute in a Slavic Eastern European country.” This was viewed as a great threat. Thus, “much of the tense relations between the United States and Russia over the past decade can be traced to the 1999 war on Yugoslavia.”
The War on Terror and the Project for the New American Century (PNAC)
When Bill Clinton became President, the neo-conservative hawks from the George H.W. Bush administration formed a think tank called the Project for the New American Century, or PNAC. In 2000, they published a report called, Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategy, Forces, and Resources for a New Century. Building upon the Defense Policy Guidance document, they state that, “the United States must retain sufficient forces able to rapidly deploy and win multiple simultaneous large-scale wars.” Further, there is “need to retain sufficient combat forces to fight and win, multiple, nearly simultaneous major theatre wars,” and that “the Pentagon needs to begin to calculate the force necessary to protect, independently, US interests in Europe, East Asia and the Gulf at all times.”
Interestingly, the document stated that, “the United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.” However, in advocating for massive increases in defense spending and expanding the American empire across the globe, including the forceful destruction of multiple countries through major theatre wars, the report stated that, “Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor.” That event came one year later with the events of 9/11.
Many of the authors of the report and members of the Project for the New American Century had become officials in the Bush administration, and were conveniently in place to enact their “Project” after they got their “new Pearl Harbor.”
The plans for war were “already under development by far right Think Tanks in the 1990s, organizations in which cold-war warriors from the inner circle of the secret services, from evangelical churches, from weapons corporations and oil companies forged shocking plans for a new world order.” To do this, “the USA would need to use all means – diplomatic, economic and military, even wars of aggression – to have long term control of the resources of the planet and the ability to keep any possible rival weak.”
Among the people involved in PNAC and the plans for empire, “Dick Cheney – Vice President, Lewis Libby – Cheney’s Chief of Staff, Donald Rumsfeld – Defence Minister, Paul Wolfowitz – Rumsfeld’s deputy, Peter Rodman – in charge of ‘Matters of Global Security’, John Bolton – State Secretary for Arms Control, Richard Armitage – Deputy Foreign Minister, Richard Perle – former Deputy Defence Minister under Reagan, now head of the Defense Policy Board, William Kristol – head of the PNAC and adviser to Bush, known as the brains of the President, Zalmay Khalilzad,” who became Ambassador to both Afghanistan and Iraq following the regime changes in those countries.
Brzezinski’s “Grand Chessboard”
Arch-hawk strategist, Zbigniew Brzezinski, co-founder of the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller, former National Security Adviser and key foreign policy architect in Jimmy Carter’s administration, also wrote a book on American geostrategy. Brzezinski is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bilderberg Group, and has also been a board member of Amnesty International, the Atlantic Council and the National Endowment for Democracy. Currently, he is a trustee and counselor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a major US policy think tank.
In his 1997 book, The Grand Chessboard, Brzezinski outlined a strategy for America in the world. He wrote, “For America, the chief geopolitical prize is Eurasia. For half a millennium, world affairs were dominated by Eurasian powers and peoples who fought with one another for regional domination and reached out for global power.” Further, “how America ‘manages’ Eurasia is critical. Eurasia is the globe’s largest continent and is geopolitically axial. A power that dominates Eurasia would control two of the world’s three most advanced and economically productive regions. A mere glance at the map also suggests that control over Eurasia would almost automatically entail African subordination.”
He continued in outlining a strategy for American empire, stating that, “it is imperative that no Eurasian challenger emerges, capable of dominating Eurasia and thus of also challenging America. The formulation of a comprehensive and integrated Eurasian geostrategy is therefore the purpose of this book.” He explained that, “Two basic steps are thus required: first, to identify the geostrategically dynamic Eurasian states that have the power to cause a potentially important shift in the international distribution of power and to decipher the central external goals of their respective political elites and the likely consequences of their seeking to attain them: [and] second, to formulate specific U.S. policies to offset, co-opt, and/or control the above.”
What this means is that is it of primary importance to first identify states that could potentially be a pivot upon which the balance of power in the region exits the US sphere of influence; and secondly, to “offset, co-opt, and/or control” such states and circumstances. An example of this would be Iran; being one of the world’s largest oil producers, and in a strategically significant position in the axis of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Iran could hold the potential to alter the balance of power in Eurasia if it were to closely ally itself with Russia or China, or both – giving those nations a heavy supply of oil as well as a sphere of influence in the Gulf, thus challenging American hegemony in the region.
Brzezinski removed all subtlety from his imperial leanings, and wrote, “To put it in a terminology that harkens back to the more brutal age of ancient empires, the three grand imperatives of imperial geostrategy are to prevent collusion and maintain security dependence among the vassals, to keep tributaries pliant and protected, and to keep the barbarians from coming together.”
Brzezinski referred to the Central Asian republics as the “Eurasian Balkans,” writing that, “Moreover, they [the Central Asian Republics] are of importance from the standpoint of security and historical ambitions to at least three of their most immediate and more powerful neighbors, namely Russia, Turkey and Iran, with China also signaling an increasing political interest in the region.
But the Eurasian Balkans are infinitely more important as a potential economic prize: an enormous concentration of natural gas and oil reserves is located in the region, in addition to important minerals, including gold.” He further wrote that, “It follows that America’s primary interest is to help ensure that no single power comes to control this geopolitical space and that the global community has unhindered financial and economic access to it.”
This is a clear example of America’s role as an engine of empire; with foreign imperial policy designed to maintain US strategic positions, but primarily and “infinitely more important,” is to secure an “economic prize” for “the global community.” In other words, the United States is an imperial hegemon working for international financial interests.
Brzezinski also warned that, “the United States may have to determine how to cope with regional coalitions that seek to push America out of Eurasia, thereby threatening America’s status as a global power,” and he, “puts a premium on maneuver and manipulation in order to prevent the emergence of a hostile coalition that could eventually seek to challenge America’s primacy.”
Thus, “The most immediate task is to make certain that no state or combination of states gains the capacity to expel the United States from Eurasia or even to diminish significantly its decisive arbitration role.”
The War on Terror and Surplus Imperialism
In 2000, the Pentagon released a document called Joint Vision 2020, which outlined a project to achieve what they termed, “Full Spectrum Dominance,” as the blueprint for the Department of Defense in the future. “Full-spectrum dominance means the ability of U.S. forces, operating alone or with allies, to defeat any adversary and control any situation across the range of military operations.”
The report “addresses full-spectrum dominance across the range of conflicts from nuclear war to major theater wars to smaller-scale contingencies. It also addresses amorphous situations like peacekeeping and noncombat humanitarian relief.” Further, “The development of a global information grid will provide the environment for decision superiority.”
As political economist, Ellen Wood, explained, “Boundless domination of a global economy, and of the multiple states that administer it, requires military action without end, in purpose or time.” Further, “Imperial dominance in a global capitalist economy requires a delicate and contradictory balance between suppressing competition and maintaining conditions in competing economies that generate markets and profit.
This is one of the most fundamental contradictions of the new world order.”
Following 9/11, the “Bush doctrine” was put in place, which called for “a unilateral and exclusive right to preemptive attack, any time, anywhere, unfettered by any international agreements, to ensure that ‘our forces will be strong enough to dissuade potential adversaries from pursuing a military build-up in hope of surpassing, or equaling, the power of the United States’.”
NATO undertook its first ground invasion of any nation in its entire history, with the October 2001 invasion and occupation of Afghanistan. The Afghan war was in fact, planned prior to the events of 9/11, with the breakdown of major pipeline deals between major western oil companies and the Taliban. The war itself was planned over the summer of 2001 with the operational plan to go to war by mid-October.
Afghanistan is extremely significant in geopolitical terms, as, “Transporting all the Caspian basin’s fossil fuel through Russia or Azerbaijan would greatly enhance Russia’s political and economic control over the central Asian republics, which is precisely what the west has spent 10 years trying to prevent. Piping it through Iran would enrich a regime which the US has been seeking to isolate.
Sending it the long way round through China, quite aside from the strategic considerations, would be prohibitively expensive. But pipelines through Afghanistan would allow the US both to pursue its aim of ‘diversifying energy supply’ and to penetrate the world’s most lucrative markets.”
As the San Francisco Chronicle pointed out a mere two weeks following the 9/11 attacks, “Beyond American determination to hit back against the perpetrators of the Sept. 11 attacks, beyond the likelihood of longer, drawn-out battles producing more civilian casualties in the months and years ahead, the hidden stakes in the war against terrorism can be summed up in a single word: oil.”
Explaining further, “The map of terrorist sanctuaries and targets in the Middle East and Central Asia is also, to an extraordinary degree, a map of the world’s principal energy sources in the 21st century. The defense of these energy resources — rather than a simple confrontation between Islam and the West — will be the primary flash point of global conflict for decades to come.”
Among the many notable states where there is a crossover between terrorism and oil and gas reserves of vital importance to the United States and the West, are Saudi Arabia, Libya, Bahrain, the Gulf Emirates, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan and Algeria, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Chechnya, Georgia and eastern Turkey. Importantly, “this region accounts for more than 65 percent of the world’s oil and natural gas production.”
Further, “It is inevitable that the war against terrorism will be seen by many as a war on behalf of America’s Chevron, ExxonMobil and Arco; France’s TotalFinaElf; British Petroleum; Royal Dutch Shell and other multinational giants, which have hundreds of billions of dollars of investment in the region.”
It’s no secret that the Iraq war had much to do with oil. In the summer of 2001, Dick Cheney convened an Energy Task Force, which was a highly secret set of meetings in which energy policy was determined for the United States.
In the meetings and in various other means of communication, Cheney and his aides met with top officials and executives of Shell Oil, British Petroleum (BP), Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Conoco, and Chevron. At the meeting, which took place before 9/11 and before there was any mention of a war on Iraq, documents of Iraqi oilfields, pipelines, refineries and terminals were presented and discussed, and “Saudi Arabian and United Arab Emirates (UAE) documents likewise feature a map of each country’s oilfields, pipelines, refineries and tanker terminals.” Both Royal Dutch Shell and British Petroleum have since received major oil contracts to develop Iraqi oilfields.
The war on Iraq, as well as the war on Afghanistan, also largely serve specifically American, and more broadly, Western imperial-strategic interests in the region. In particular, the wars were strategically designed to eliminate, threaten or contain regional powers, as well as to directly install several dozen military bases in the region, firmly establishing an imperial presence.
The purpose of this is largely aimed at other major regional players and specifically, encircling Russia and China and threatening their access to the regions oil and gas reserves. Iran is now surrounded, with Iraq on one side, and Afghanistan on the other.
Part 1 of this essay outlined the US-NATO imperial strategy for entering the New World Order, following the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991. The primary aim was focused on encircling Russia and China and preventing the rise of a new superpower. The US was to act as the imperial hegemon, serving international financial interests in imposing the New World Order.
The next part to this essay examines the “colour revolutions” throughout Eastern Europe and Central Asia, continuing the US and NATO policy of containing Russia and China; while controlling access to major natural gas reserves and transportation routes. The “colour revolutions” have been a pivotal force in geopolitical imperial strategy, and analyzing them is key to understanding the New World Order.
TRAIN WRECK: Netanyahu heading for U.S. as Israeli trust in President Obama plummets

(Jerusalem, Israel) — If I had to rank the most pro-Israel leaders in the Western alliance right now, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and French President Nicolas Sarkozy would top the list. President Obama wouldn’t even be on the list.-
Last Friday night, I gave an address to the Christian Embassy banquet in northern Virginia. The title of my talk was, “Train Wreck: The Coming Collision of U.S.-Israeli Relations.” With deep concern and regret, I noted that just as the Iranian nuclear threat is worsening, we are currently witnessing the worst strains in U.S.-Israel relations in memory.
Before January, polls showed 88% of Israelis believed President Bush was pro-Israel.
In May, a Jerusalem Post poll found that only 31% of Israelis believed President Obama was pro-Israel.
By August, a Jerusalem Post poll found only 4% of Israelis believed President Obama was pro-Israel.
Israel’s plummeting confidence that the White House truly understands their security needs and will stand with them as a faithful ally is the results of numerous actions and statements by the President and his senior advisors.
UPDATE: Fortunately, Congress is taking a different path towards Israel than the Obama administration. While the President and his team are taking an increasingly hard line against the Jewish State, an overwhelmingly bipartisan consensus in Congress is standing strongly with Israel.
On Tuesday for example, “the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a non-binding resolution on Tuesday condemning the Goldstone Report, that accuses Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza, and calling on the Obama administration to oppose its endorsement. 334 representatives voted for the resolution while only 36 voted against and 22 abstained.” This bodes well. Praise God.
Does G.O.P. Equal God’s Own Party?

Many of the Christians in doctrinally conservative churches believe political activism
is as simple as working to get the next Republican elected. Maybe that’s the way things were 15
or 20 years ago, but this isn’t your father’s political environment.
American Christians find themselves in a unique period of Church history. As a Constitutional
Republic, we have no biblical precedence for reference. In the Old Testament, Israel was ruled
and led by Judges, Kings and Prophets. In the New Testament, the Roman Empire ruled the
known world. As an empire, Rome set the standard for administrative efficiency. The Emperor,
or Caesar, was viewed as a god-like person, and the military ruthlessly enforced the political
agenda set by Rome.
America was founded as a country free from the trappings of monarchy and empire.
The founding fathers viewed the European States as clear examples of how not to build a lasting
government, and set out from the beginning to place the power in the hands of the people. Our
political leaders would not be kings or emperors, but representatives elected by the people and
for the people.
This places a special burden on the American citizen that has rarely existed in Church history.
As Christian citizens, we are responsible to vote and elect representatives who will reflect our
biblical values and worldview. At the same time, America is not a Constitutional Theocracy. It is
not our place to try to advance the Kingdom of Heaven through man-made political systems.
Jesus made it clear in His Great Commission that believers are to “go into all the world and make
disciples…” (Matthew 28:19-20). The Church in Acts set the example by keeping their focus on
gospel outreach and impacting the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Perhaps the best illustration for American Christians is the Apostle Paul. As a Roman
citizen, Paul held all of the political clout a man could have within the Roman Empire. The
argument could have been made (strongly) that Paul’s greatest contribution to the advancement
of the gospel and the adoption of a biblical worldview would have been as a Roman citizen and
political activist. Even within the early Church, Paul held strong political credentials. As a highly
trained scholar and Pharisee, Paul would have had a seat at the table within the Sanhedrin, the
Jewish ruling council. His influence would have been tremendous, and he could have proven to
be a strong voice for the gospel had he followed this path. Instead, however, Paul chose the
way of the prisoner. As a minister of the gospel, Paul spoke unashamedly to the culture, not
as a Roman citizen, or a highly trained Pharisee, but as a bond slave of Christ.
As 21st Century Christians, we must work hard to find a balance between our responsibilities as
American citizens, and our higher calling as children of God. Our priority must be on the
advancement of the gospel and on making disciples here in Central Iowa, across the United
States, and around the world.
Does this mean we should turn our backs on politics and leave all things political to the
unbelieving world? No! We have a voice, and we need to be heard. But understand two
important points: 1) this cannot be our primary purpose in life, and 2) the political environment
has become much more complicated than a simple two party system. Don’t assume that just
because a certain candidate has a specific label behind their name (e.g. Democrat or
Republican) that this candidate will represent your values and worldview. Do your research
and stay informed. Moreover, don’t hesitate to cast your vote for a candidate who truly
represents your values, regardless of the party label.
The phrase “What Would Jesus Do” has come to mean a lot of things. Rather than ask “what
would Jesus do,” perhaps a better question might be “what did Jesus do?” What did Jesus do
when He ministered 2000 years ago? Did Jesus confront the Roman government and
challenge their ruthless authority? No. Did Jesus work to bring about a Jewish rebellion that
could militarily challenge Rome? No. Did Jesus seek to bring about change through any
political process? No. Jesus came as a lowly servant to heal the sick, minister to the hurting,
and save the lost.
Most importantly, Jesus did not concern Himself with what impact He could
have politically during His short time on earth. Instead, Jesus focused on eternity and on
impacting the lives of a few ordinary men from Galilee who went out and changed the world.

Battle Intensifies to Divide Jerusalem

December 7, 2009
From Joel Rosenberg’s blog:
The battle to divide Jerusalem is intensifying this week. Sweden is pushing hard to pass an initiative to persuade 27 foreign ministers of European Union states to endorse a plan to recognize unilaterally East Jerusalem as the capital of a new Palestinian State. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, meanwhile, is doing everything he can to counter the Swedish effort. EU ministers meet today in Brussels.

For the past couple years we have been covering every nuance of the economic collapse and in almost every instance we have come to the conclusion that 2010 would be the year that the U.S. would see an incredible downturn, possibly resulting in the inflationary disintegration of the Dollar, and a major stock market revolt which would destroy any remaining illusion Americans still have that a recovery is in progress:
We are now on the edge of winter 2009, and recent events across the globe indicate more and more that our predictions for 2010 were correct. Let’s examine some of those events and their implications now…
Dubai: Why Should We Care?
Only a year ago, Dubai was the jewel of the Middle East. A financial Mecca centered in the midst of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai has been nicknamed the “Global City,” not necessarily because its population is “globally conscious,” but because without investment from numerous foreign nations, Dubai would not exist.
Dubai is often mistaken as an oil rich nation, but the fact is, only 6% of Dubai’s GDP is supported by oil revenue. The vast remaining portion of Dubai’s economy operates completely on money from the U.S., China, Europe, and other foreign interests.
Since the “Great Recession” began in 2007, rumors of a systematic financial collapse in Dubai have circulated, along with reports of frozen investment, and even abandoned Real Estate projects that have left the country looking like a ghost town. In the past week, those rumors have been officially confirmed:
Essentially, Dubai is bankrupt, and this news has sent a shockwave through markets around the world. But why? Why would Dubai’s bankruptcy affect U.S. markets?
The first thing that we must understand is that this is the result of living in a “globalized” economy. Instead of having sovereign and self sufficient financial systems that act as checks to total world collapse, we now have “interdependent” economies connected like a chain of dominoes. All it takes is for one to tip over, and the others follow suit.
If a once explosive economy like that of Dubai’s is now on the edge of insolvency, this means Western companies are incredibly weak and unable to invest any longer. Dubai’s collapse indicates that the capital that once flowed from rich nations like the U.S. has dried up. The world is reeling, and perhaps even broke. Dubai is the canary in the coal mine, and the canary has just dropped dead. The signal is clear; the astounding resurgence of world markets is an illusion built on nothing but fantasy and fiat money printed out of thin air and used to prop up the Dow. Dubai has kicked off the coming avalanche, but there is more…
Chinese Banks Frantically Try To Raise Capital?
A recent event that has gone almost completely ignored by MSM economists was the announcement that Chinese banks are now under government pressure to shore up their finances, and are set to unleash a wave of billions of dollars in capital raising that could strain equity markets. The Chinese government seems to be very concerned about the financial cushion available to the country’s banks:
Over the next year or more, Chinese financial institutions will be pulling billions of Yuan out of various investments, selling stocks and bonds in order to raise a massive amount of capital, but for what?
The move appears quite sudden, as if the push for capital is meant as a hedge for a possible panic event, much like an inside trader selling off his shares in a company because he knows it is about to go bust. Either these banks are much weaker than the Chinese government has let on in its economic reports, or, they are expecting a severe downturn in the markets, which would explain why they need billions of Yuan as a parachute. Either way, as soon as the Chinese begin pulling capital out of U.S. markets (in which they are heavily invested) we can expect to see the DOW falter drastically.
The shoring up of billions of Yuan could also indicate that the Chinese are preparing to dump more U.S. treasuries, as they did a couple of months ago:
The dollar has been dropping steadily and hard, and eventually, China and other nations with large dollar holdings will attempt to move out of U.S. treasuries. A 300 billion Yuan capital pool may be intended as a hedge to protect against a U.S. dollar collapse, allowing China to eventually dump their T-bonds without completely destroying their own savings in the process.
We also reported recently on China’s move to bring the ASEAN economic block to fruition, along with the announcement that ASEAN and all countries involved may take on the Yuan as their “reserve currency:”
This new trade agreement along with an internationally traded Yuan would put China in a prime position to drop its reliance on the U.S. and the Dollar. All signs indicate a move toward separation from the traditional economic agreement between China and the U.S. will occur in 2010.
Trouble Brewing In Japan
The MSM has been relatively quiet on Japan’s current financial condition, perhaps because its condition is growing increasingly worse, and this reflects poorly on the condition of the U.S. Dollar.
Japan is another Asian country that once relied heavily of American consumption as a support mechanism for its economy. This mechanism has survived due to the Yen’s relative weakness to the Greenback, allowing for a profitable trade deficit in Japan’s favor. However, Japanese exports have taken a tremendous hit due to the Dollar’s steady decline, falling between 20% and 30% every month for the past year:
This major decline in exports (Japan’s bread and butter) has caused a deflationary trend in Japanese markets, as well as sending the middle class there into a mode of savings and self protection. Japanese companies have attempted to stall job-loss in the country by cutting the pay of their employees, instead of issuing pink slips. This has resulted however in many families being “equally” on the edge of poverty:
In August 2009, elections placed the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) in power, a regime change that has not occurred since 1955. The new Prime Minister of Japan, Yukio Hatoyama, has announced publicly and often that he would like Japan to break from its reliance on the American economy and form more tightly with the ASEAN trading bloc:
For now, Hatoyama feels that this move would take some time, and that America’s economic dominance will be weakened but sustained. However, if Japan’s deflationary spiral continues at its current pace due to a weak dollar, a dollar being slowly destroyed by the private Federal Reserve, he may change his mind about a timetable for joining ASEAN and breaking from the U.S.
Japan holds a substantial amount of U.S Treasury debt, meaning just like in the case of China, if these treasuries are dumped, our currency will implode.
Gold Buying Bonanza By Foreign Central Banks
We have reported for a long time on China’s quiet gold buying habits which have increased its reserves by 75% or more since 2003:
These reserves have probably been expanded much more in the past few months, and China has indicated a desire to increase its gold holdings from 1600 tons to 6000 tons in the next few years!
But even bigger news is the announcement that India has bought 200 tons of gold from the IMF and may buy 200 more:
The IMF originally offered up the 400 ton gold sale in the midst of one of the biggest gold rallies in recent history, obviously as an attempt to flood the market and manipulate the price down. The attempt failed, and gold has surged to nearly $1200 an ounce in the past couple months.
Russia has also been stocking gold, buying 15.6 tons in October and bringing their reserves to approximately 606 tons. Not only this, but Russia has also announced its intentions to diversify into other national currencies and away from the dollar. Even the Chinese Yuan may be included in Russia’s forex:
Numerous nations are obviously moving to protect themselves. Right now, gold is the only currency alternative to the dollar that is accepted everywhere (until the SDR gets rolling). Gold buying indicates that these countries fully expect market turmoil and dollar weakness to continue and perhaps escalate.
Bad Signs On The Homefront
The situation in American employment, credit, currency, and real estate has only become worse since the federal stimulus plan was instituted. “Official” unemployment has soared to 10.2% while REAL unemployment according to the U-6 measurement is around 18%.
Real Estate continues to be incredibly weak, and mortgage payment delinquencies and bankruptcy have grown unabated:
Over 125 banks across the country have been closed in 2009. You can see the FDIC’s closed bank list here:
The FDIC has announced that it has officially run out of funds, and is now in the red for $8.2 billion (that they admit to, the real amount could be much more). The FDIC is now pulling funds directly from the Treasury to cover future bank losses. This puts even more of a strain on the already crumbling dollar:
American’s buying habits are perhaps the biggest indicator that something is very wrong. Polls indicate the 93% of U.S. consumers will most likely spend much less this Christmas season then they did the last, and many of them will not be using credit cards:
The U.S. economy has been fueled by easy credit for decades. The fact that Americans have dumped credit in favor of cash means they will be spending FAR less this holiday season than any MSM economist wants to admit to. I believe the seasonal retail numbers for 2009 will be startling to many who are not aware of the true condition of the economy, and who have blindly believed the Federal Reserve’s announcements that the recession is “over.”
We have predicted for at least the past two years that the primary collapse of the U.S. economy would occur in 2010. We stand by that prediction. Our hopes remain that this prediction will be proven incorrect, and that all will be well, however we have no illusions according to the current data that this will be so. Neither Corporation encourages all of our readers to examine the conditions and information for themselves, and we request that all those who find our conclusions to be correct should make preparations to protect your savings and the well being of your families.
A climactic economic event is on the horizon, and the train is already in motion. We may not be able stop the event from taking shape, but together we can determine its outcome. All those who value truth, liberty, and an honorable society, should be ready not only to save themselves, but to save each other, and to save their country. The time for readiness grows short.
EPA: Cap and Trade or Else?

by Gary Bauer | December 10, 2009 | Original Source
Earlier this week, the Obama Administration announced that it would unilaterally regulate carbon emissions unless Congress adopted a cap and trade scheme. I’ve devoted a lot of space in this report to explaining the tremendous implications of cap and trade, but you could summarize it this way: a cap on our prosperity that trades our liberty for a radical ideology.
Tuesday, the White House made clear what that ideology is – Soviet-style socialism.
Responding to the EPA’s announcement that it would begin regulating carbon, a top White House official issued a blunt threat to our elected representatives: “If you [Congress] don’t pass this legislation [cap and trade], then … the EPA is going to have to regulate in this area. And it is not going to be able to regulate on a market-based way, so it’s going to have to regulate in a command-and-control way, which will probably generate even more uncertainty.”
That statement is a declaration of war against working families and America’s free-market economy.
The White House is telling Congress to pick its poison – cap and trade or command-and-control. That’s extortion, but that’s the “Chicago way,” isn’t it? And when did White House officials start using phrases like “command-and-control”? I thought command-and-control economies died with the Soviet Union.
This threat gives you some idea of just how devastating cap and trade is for the economy. The White House is unintentionally admitting, “We know cap and trade is bad. But the EPA regulations would be really, really bad.” The administration is playing a game of chicken with the economy in the middle of a severe recession.
There is a way out of this – rein in the bureaucracy and reduce the size and scope of government. Congress can amend the Clean Air Act to strip the EPA of authority over carbon emissions. That would be the most logical thing to do. Sadly, many liberal politicians are ideologically biased against common sense and fundamental economics.
(If you needed any more evidence of the radical ideology behind climate change, a leader of the Chinese delegation in Copenhagen just announced that population control “fits right into the picture.”)
So, what’s the alternative? Clint Eastwood’s famous line comes to mind: “Go ahead, make my day.” Pollster Scott Rasmussen found that just 24% of American adults felt the EPA should act unilaterally to regulate carbon emissions. Conservatives ought to call Obama’s bluff: They should fight cap and trade tooth and nail, and dare Obama to destroy the economy with his command-and-control ideology. Ulysses S. Grant's aid, “I know no method to secure the repeal of bad or obnoxious laws so effective as their stringent execution.”
Perhaps it’s time to test that method.
2010: "The Year of Severe Economic Contraction"
Posted: 04 Jan 2010 01:07 PM PST
by Mike Whitney | December 15, 2009 | Global Research
Upbeat reports in the financial media, belie the effects of the ongoing credit contraction. Massive injections of central bank liquidity have prevented the collapse of financial markets, but have done little to ease the deleveraging of households or stimulate activity the broader economy. The crisis has stripped $13 trillion in equity from working families who now find their access to credit either cut off or severely curtailed by the same banks that received hefty taxpayer-funded bailouts. The fiscal strangulation of the millions of people who are no longer considered "creditworthy" is progressively weakening demand and spreading pessimism across all income levels. Growing public desperation was the focus of a special weekend report by Bloomberg News:
"Americans have grown gloomier about both the economy and the nation’s direction over the past three months even as the U.S. shows signs of moving from recession to recovery. Almost half the people now feel less financially secure than when President Barack Obama took office in January, a Bloomberg National Poll shows.
The economy is the country’s top concern, with persistently high unemployment the greatest threat the public sees. Eight of 10 Americans rate joblessness a high risk to the economy in the next two years, outranking the federal budget deficit, which is cited by 7 of 10. An increase in taxes is named as a high risk by almost 6 of 10.
Fewer than 1 in 3 Americans think the economy will improve in the next six months….Only 32 percent of poll respondents believe the country is headed in the right direction, down from 40 percent who said so in September." (Bloomberg)
The near-delirious optimism that followed the 2008 presidential election has fizzled in less than 12 months. While the policies of the Obama administration have improved Wall Street’s prospects for record profits and lavish bonuses, ordinary working people continue to fight to keep their jobs and maintain their standard of living. Recent data show that household debt which surged during the boom years is being pared back at a historic pace. Household debt to disposable income has plummeted from 136 percent to 122 percent in a little more than a year, leaving many families with little to spend at the malls or shopping centers.
Severe retrenchment has triggered a shift towards personal thriftiness which is reducing economic activity and strengthening deflationary pressures. 2010 is likely to be even worse, as mushrooming foreclosures and commercial real estate defaults force banks to slash lending accelerating the rate of decline. This is from Bloomberg: "Foreclosure filings in the U.S. will reach a record for the second consecutive year with 3.9 million notices sent to homeowners in default, RealtyTrac Inc. said. This year’s filings will surpass 2008’s total of 3.2 million as record unemployment and price erosion batter the housing market…
Foreclosure filings exceeded 300,000 for the ninth straight month in November, RealtyTrac said today. A weak labor market and tight credit are "formidable headwinds" for the economy, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said in a Dec. 7 speech in Washington. The 7.2 million jobs lost since the recession began in December 2007 are the most of any postwar economic slump, Labor Department data show. Unemployment, at 10 percent last month, won’t peak until the first quarter, Quigley said."
The Obama administration’s $787 billion stimulus pushed GDP into positive territory for the first time in more than a year, but the maximum impact has already been felt. President Obama–under advice from his chief advisors– has shifted his focus from soaring unemployment to long-term deficits. Additional stimulus will be no more than $200 billion, of which, a mere $50 billion will go towards jobs initiatives. At the same time, Fed chair Ben Bernanke will terminate the quantitative easing (QE) program which kept long-term interest rates low while providing financing for the housing market. When the program ends, rates will rise, housing prices will tumble, and liquidity will drain from the system. The end of QE coupled with dwindling stimulus ensures that economy will slide back into recession in the 2nd or 3rd Quarter of 2010.
Policymakers have decided to create conditions that are favorable to financial sector consolidation and the further privatization of public assets. The economy is being strangled by design.
Here’s economist Mark Thoma explaining why consumption will not return to pre-crisis levels:
"For the immediate future and likely for much longer than that, slow consumption growth is expected. One way that could change is if the government implements a successful jobs program or uses some other means to increase household income (e.g. a payroll tax cut), and households spend rather than save the extra income…, but the political environment makes a jobs program or further fiscal policy action highly unlikely.
Similarly…the Fed is anxious to unwind its massive policy intervention, not extend it, so monetary policy is unlikely to help much either.
Since monetary and fiscal policy authorities are unwilling to provide further help, slow growth is the best outcome we’re likely to get." ("Will Consumption Growth Return to Its Pre-Recession Level?" Mark Thoma, moneywatch.com)
Along with flagging consumption, economists Antonio Fatas and Ilian Mihov show why both investment and employment will not rebound in the way that many bullish analysts expect. By tracking the rate of recovery in the last 5 recessions, the two economists show that demand will remain flat for a prolonged period of time, precipitating a "jobless" and "investmentless" recovery. Their research supports additional stimulus to reduce the output gap and engage the labor force in productive activity. The administration’s policies are the exact opposite of the majority of professional economists who believe that deficits need to increase to effect overcapacity and underutilization. Obama is deliberately steering the economy into a double-dip recession.
While financial institutions have been propped up with zero-rates, myriad lending facilities and boatloads of Fed liquidity, the real economy continues to on a downward path. As households rebalance accounts and increase savings, the signs of distress are becoming more apparent. In Europe, the ECB and IMF have begun to use the financial crisis to wrest control of the budgets of deficits-plagued nations to apply business-friendly austerity measures.
The economic meltdown–that was generated by overleveraged banks trading dodgy investment paper–is now being used to assert corporate/bank control over sovereign nations. Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal and Spain are all presently in the crosshairs of neoliberal restructuring. Surely, the same policies will be applied within the United States under the guidance of supply-side economist and chief advisor to the president, Lawrence Summers.
Thus, in 2010, economic contraction will continue to force state and local governments to lay off millions of more workers while public assets and services are made available at firesale prices to private industry.
Debt deflation and deleveraging will continue into 2011, while foreclosures, personal bankruptcies and defaults continue to mount. The public’s frustration with ineffective government policies, is likely to change from pessimism to rage on short notice. The prospect of social unrest or sporadic incidents of violence can no longer be excluded.

How Far Apart are the Contractions?
Posted: 06 Jan 2010 04:00 AM PST
by Heidi Swander | December 30, 2009 | www.olivetreeviews.org
It was Jesus Himself, who made it quite plain that we should "discern the signs of the times" (Matt. 16:1-3).
And Jesus told His disciples regarding the run up to the end of the age, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows" (Matt. 24:6-8). The word translated "sorrows" in this context means "birth pangs." And what do we know about birth pangs?
In his excellent book, The Last Generation: Ten Signs of the End of the Age, Jack Kinsella, editor of The Omega Letter, gives insight into this last sentence. "Prospective parents in Jesus’ day did exactly what I did with each of my kids — timed the interval between the contractions. ‘Labor pains’ was a carefully chosen metaphor designed to resonate with all people, of all cultures, in all generations. But, to the generation to whom those signs were addressed, the meaning would be unmistakable."
So as we get closer and closer to the second coming of Jesus Christ, all of these signs will intensify, just as the labor pains of a mother-to-be. And since the Tribulation — that seven-year period immediately preceding the second coming — is where all of these signs escalate to a crescendo, what we see now is just the prelude; early labor, if you will. Let’s tick these signs off and see where we’re at today:
Wars and rumors of wars: The site GlobalSecurity.org provides a list of current conflicts on their military page and states, "The United Nations defines ‘major wars’ as military conflicts inflicting 1,000 battlefield deaths per year. In 1965, there were 10 major wars under way. The new millennium began with much of the world consumed in armed conflict or cultivating an uncertain peace."
Famines: In his book, Jack mentions an organization called, The Global Crop Diversity Trust. Apparently fear of impending global famine is so great that this group has created what they call The Doomsday Vault. According to Jack, this vault is "a cavernous concrete room carved from the side of a mountain on a frozen island located less than six hundred miles from the North Pole.
The room is designed to hold around two million seeds, representing all known varieties of the world’s crops." The idea is that in a worst-case-scenario this trust would be able to reconstruct all agriculture on the planet.
Pestilences (diseases): The Web site of The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (there’s a whole organization researching pestilences!) hosts fact sheets on a multitude of infectious maladies. Today we have AIDS, E. coli, H1NI, cancer, SARS, a variety of STDs, and many, many more diseases that were unheard of even 100 years ago. And penicillin-resistant varieties of many diseases are emerging, which means we have nothing to fight them off. And the bugs keep mutating to deadlier varieties.
Earthquakes: The most readily comparable information I found on the Web shows that, overall, there was a definite increase in earthquakes between 1990 and 2009. "The December 26, 2004, earthquake that spawned the Great Asian Tsunami was one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history," Jack notes. "The earthquake that set it off was so powerful that it actually repositioned the island of Sumatra by some 100 feet to the southwest."
Whoa. I know that one gave me pause. Made me think about the many Tribulation earthquakes the Apostle John noted for us in the book of Revelation (6:12; 8:5; 11:13; 11:19; 16:18 — and this last "such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth").
Add to all of these facts the hysterical rush to form a one-world government, including a one-world economic structure (Rev. 13:16-18), and a one-world religion (Rev. 13:11-15) and evidence becomes pretty overwhelming. I’d say the contractions are coming at regular intervals!
I highly recommend you read Jack’s book. He presents a lot more clear and undeniable evidence that points to our generation being the one Jesus spoke of when He said, "This generation shall not pass until all these things be fulfilled" (Matt. 24:34), including the restoration of Israel; the alignment of the nations for the Gog/Magog war; false christs; the rampage of deception in our world; terrors in the sun, moon, and stars; the revival of the Roman Empire; and the mark of the beast.
It sure does seem we are sitting on the precipice of the time foretold by Old Testaments prophets as well as Jesus and the apostles. Paul admonished the Christians in Thessalonica to be watchful and sober (I Thess. 5:6). He tells them — and us — that we are "sons of light and sons of the day" and, as such, we shouldn’t be blindsided by what is happening around us. It has all been foretold and is playing out just as God said it would.
Jesus gave another labor analogy that can give us hope as we see these signs unfolding: "A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world" (John 16:21).
We are living in exciting, if uncertain, times. Let’s look at what is taking place around us and anticipate with joy the culmination of all of God’s promises! Wow. What an honor to be on-site for the delivery!
Vanishing Christianity--A Lesson from the Presbyterians

“Liberal Protestantism, in its determined policy of accommodation with the secular world, has succeeded in making itself dispensable.” That was the judgment of Thomas C. Reeves in The Empty Church: The Suicide of Liberal Protestantism, published in 1996. Fast-forward another fourteen years and it becomes increasingly clear that liberal Protestantism continues its suicide — with even greater theological accommodations to the secular worldview.
The latest evidence for this pattern is found in a report just released by The Presbyterian Panel, a research group that serves the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) [PCUSA]. The panel’s report is presented as a “Religious and Demographic Profile of Presbyterians, 2008.” The report contains relatively few surprises, but it is filled with data about the beliefs of Presbyterian laypersons and clergy.
A majority of church members, pastors, elders, and specialized clergy describe themselves as moderate, liberal, or very liberal in theological outlook. Less than half of church members (44%) and elders (48%) report a conversion experience. Interestingly, ministers were not asked that question.
In general terms, elders were slightly more conservative in belief than other church members. Female pastors were significantly more likely (51%) than male pastors (23%) to identify themselves as liberal or very liberal. Among other ministers (identified as “specialized clergy”), 62% of females identified themselves as liberal or very liberal, compared to 45% of males.
Majorities of all groups indicated agreement with the statement, “There is life beyond death.” But the most significant theological question concerned the exclusivity of the Gospel and the necessity of belief in Jesus Christ for salvation. On that question there was great division, with over a third (36%) of PCUSA church members indicating that they “disagree” or “strongly disagree” with the statement that “only followers of Jesus Christ can be saved.”
Among ministers, the division is even more apparent, with 45% of pastors disagreeing with that statement and fully 60% of specialized clergy disagreeing. Roughly 20% of both pastors and specialized clergy reported themselves “neutral or unsure” about the question.
Only 43% of church members disagreed or strongly disagreed with the claim that “all the world’s religions are equally good ways of helping a person find ultimate truth.”
This is a church that has lost its confidence in the Gospel in terms of the clear biblical claim that salvation comes only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This latest report confirms the continued abandonment of the Gospel in an increasingly secularized denomination.
Liberal Protestantism — institutionalized in the old Protestant “mainline” denominations — has been following a path of theological accommodation for a century now, and there appears to be little hope for a major theological correction. Renewal groups have been working within these churches for decades, attempting to call the denominations back to biblical Christianity. To date, they have won only isolated battles in most of these churches.
As Reeves explains:
“And so the mainline churches wane — disheartened, aging, increasingly irrelevant, all too often satisfied to serve as a sort of sanctimonious echo of National Public Radio or the left wing of the Democratic Party. For a variety of reasons, many liberal Protestants, especially church leaders, have endorsed a view of reality and a way of life that have helped produce a society that is breaking up. And they have become part of the problem.”
But this report points to the most devastating reality among these churches — the loss of faith and doctrinal conviction among church members. Theological compromise appeared first among the pastors, theologians, church executives, and seminary professors. Denominational bureaucracies again and again prove themselves resistant to correction. For years, the hope had been that laypersons — the church members themselves — would force a correction and lead a return to evangelical conviction.
This report indicates just how distant that hope now appears, largely because the church members themselves have adopted liberal beliefs.
Back in 1994, a team of sociologists considered this phenomenon, looking particularly at the Baby Boomers in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Dean R. Hoge, Benton Johnson, and Donald A. Luidens published their findings in Vanishing Boundaries: The Religion of Protestant Baby Boomers. They identified the phenomenon of “lay liberalism” in the PCUSA and throughout
As they explained, “This perspective is ‘liberal’ because its defining feature is a rejection of the orthodox teaching that Christianity is the only true religion. Lay liberals have a high regard for Jesus, but they do not affirm that He is God’s only son and that salvation is available only through Him.”
The title of their report points to the quandary of liberal Protestantism. As the boundaries between liberal Protestantism and the secular culture vanish, there is little reason for anyone to join one of these churches.
That report explained that “lay liberals who are active Presbyterians do not differ sharply in their religious views from the people who are not involved in a church but describe themselves as religious. There is, in short, no clear-cut ‘faith boundary’ separating active Presbyterians from those who no longer go to church.” The researchers also repeated their point that the defining mark of “lay liberalism” is “the rejection of the claim that Christianity, or any other faith, is the only true religion.”
This abandonment of biblical Christianity is a tragedy of the first order. Churches and denominations birthed in biblical orthodoxy have been ransacked and secularized. The crisis has migrated from the pulpits to the pews, and recovery is only a dim and distant hope.
Evangelicals should consider this tragedy with humility and theological perception. If similar trends are allowed to gain traction among evangelical churches and denominations, the same fate awaits. The larger issue here is not the continued vitality of any denomination as an end in itself, but the integrity of our witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Make no mistake — in the end, vanishing theological boundaries will amount to vanishing Christianity. This report makes that point with devastating clarity.

Iran: Destroy Israel if it strikes

Ahmadinejad tells Assad Jewish state must be "resisted with full force."
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told Syrian President Bashar Assad that Israel "must be resisted" and finished off "once and for all" if it launches a military operation in the Middle East, Reuters cited an Iranian report as saying on Thursday.
"We have reliable information … that the Zionist regime is after finding a way to compensate for its ridiculous defeats by the people of Gaza and Lebanon’s Hizbullah," Ahmadinejad told his Syrian counterpart in a phone conversation on Wednesday evening, according to IRIB, Iran’s state broadcaster.
"If the Zionist regime repeats its mistakes and initiate a military operation, then it must be resisted with full force to put an end to it once and for all," Ahmadinejad reportedly asserted.
The Iranian president has called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" multiple times and has voiced harsh criticism against Israeli policies.
At the UN General Assembly in New York in September, Ahmadinejad gave a fiery speech that targeted Israel as a "Zionist regime" guilty of "inhumane policies in Palestine."
Through a translator, the Iranian leader likened actions by Israel in Gaza to "genocide,"’ and said the international community "is impatiently waiting for the punishment of the aggressors and the murderers of the defenseless people of Gaza."
Ahmadinejad portrayed Israel and its allies, including the United States, as part of a vast conspiracy.
Debt, Default & the U.S. Dollar

This past weekend as millions around the world watched a thrilling Super Bowl members of the G-7 nations huddled for an arctic summit in Iqaluit on Baffin Island in the northern territory of Nunavut in Canada. (This group includes the US, UK, Canada, Italy, France, Germany and Japan, and was expanded to the G-8 with the addition of Russia in 1997, but lately they have been left out in the cold, so to speak).
You’ve never heard of Iqaluit before? Neither have hoards of protesters who were outflanked by these clever finance ministers who had more important things to consider than waging bets on a 31-17 Saints win in Miami. High on the agenda was the worrisome issue of sovereign debt defaults and rumors of institutional downgrades of government debt. Prior to his departure to this nether region, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner responded to another threat issued by Moody’s Investor Services, Inc. (2/3/10) that the US “is in danger of losing its Aaa debt rating.” Geithner assured that this “will never happen to this country” and that the US will rein in budget deficits “once the labor market recovers” (Bloomberg, 2/8/10).
But can the US rein in our budget deficits let alone our trade deficit and national debt? According to the Dept of Labor the US has a labor force of 154 million, and according to www.shadowstats.com the actual unemployment rate is 20%, or 30.8 million idled workers (with unemployment nearly 50% among blacks and college youth). The US has been running annual deficits in the billions since LBJ and Nixon.
No. The US will not rein in deficits as long as the Fed can monetize the indigenous warfare/welfare state that is institutionalized at every level of the federal government. Even if the labor market fully “recovered” this would only encourage politicians to spend even more money! Obama refers to this as “redistributive justice” and Karl Marx simply called it “redistribution of the wealth.” But I digress.
So what has come of this arctic meeting in Iqaluit with a population less than 7,000? Nobody knows. One reporter says they enjoyed cooked seal and caribou. Since the G-7 was primarily formed to monitor monetary issues we know that they addressed problems within the Eurozone, the Chinese yuan/dollar peg and lesser issues. Problems within the Eurozone – who could have seen this coming? I did on page 205 in my book. Then twelve member nations of the Eurozone, the number is now sixteen, and at least six are having problems – Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Slovenia and Slovakia. What will be the outcome? I believe that weak members will be forced to exit the Eurozone, but still remain members of the European Union with a common euro currency. This almost had to happen. Further, I base this on Bible prophecy that indicates that “ten” core nations/kingdoms will unite under the Antichrist that will rise out of a Revived Roman Empire (Dan. 2:41-44, 7:24; Rev. 13:1, 17:12-17).
So what do we see today? Greece is about to default on its debt. The European Central Bank (ECB) generously allowed Greece to obtain credit by pledging BBB-rated government bonds as collateral. As the whole world can now see toxic debt instruments really can’t hold up in the real world. Wall Street tried this on investors from 2002-2007 with securitized mortgage debt, and then the jig was up. Unlike our complicit Congress with Fed policies, the ECB has to operate as a real central bank with little room to maneuver, and hardly the privilege of “printing” money like the NY Fed does.
So let’s put this in perspective. Spain has a GDP of $1.1 trillion, Portugal is $193 billion, Greece is $261 billion, Ireland is $143 billion and collectively these “PIGS” contribute less than 4% to the overall EU GDP of $16.5 trillion (Slovenia and Slovakia barely figure). These nations are not important to the Eurozone.
The Eurozone must shed their weaker members and consolidate the stronger. Eventually this must include the UK with a GDP of $2.7 trillion (as I mention in my book – p. 215-216). And I suspect this will happen when the US dollar collapses and takes down the London financial district with it.
And speaking of a US bond default and impending collapse of the dollar (a reckoning day as I refer to), let’s take a look at our “member” states that are about to default on their state budgets. California is one notch away from “junk bond” status with a GDP of $1.8 trillion – the 10th largest economy in the world among 182 nations! Other states in deep trouble with significant GDP are NY ($1.2 trillion), FL ($744 billion), IL ($633 billion), PA ($553 billion), NJ ($475 billion), OH ($472 billion), MI ($382 billion), and AZ ($247 billion). This is a total of $6.4 trillion, or fully 45% of our national GDP of $14.2 trillion!
Do you see a problem in all of this? The Eurozone has a 4.5% problem and we have a 45% problem. Do you think our creditors like China and OPEC have an issue here? Do you think they really want to be holding our Treasury bonds and currency reserves? If you do then you are watching too many sports or don’t understand the macroeconomic forces that are at work in the world. Timothy Geithner is like an armchair general moving toy soldiers on a battlefield, and the perceived strength of the US dollar is his secret weapon.
This weapon is about to backfire and the casualties will be every single American and every single dollar-denominated asset in the world. Talk about a reckoning day!
As we all know, the nation of Zimbabwe has recently experienced loose fiscal policies and resulting hyperinflation. The following is an interesting item recounting their default to the Caledonia Mining Company in Toronto by Bill Haynes, a veteran gold trader and hard currency advocate. He wonders when the US dollar will go the way of the Zim dollar – I say sooner than people expect.

A One-World Government? God is Laughing!
Posted: 15 Feb 2010 01:00 AM PST
By Heidi Swander | Source Article
Yes, there really is a collaboration to create a one-world government. This government is to include a ten-region world government, a new international monetary system and the uniting of all world religions into what they, themselves, call a New World Order. Sound familiar?
Before you write me off as a quack job, you should take a look at the already-completed Constitution for the Federation of Earth. This document was created over a period of nine years (1982 – 1991) through the efforts of an organization known as The World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA), established in 1958.
According to Gary Kah, former high-ranking government liaison and author of the book En Route to Global Occupation, WCPA has been “charged with the task of actually bringing us into the New World Order.” They’ve gotten a pretty good jump-start on their mission.
“As part of its role of putting the final pieces into place [for a world government] the association has assembled a Provisional World Parliament,” Kah explains. The 12th session of that parliament is scheduled for June 2010 in Zagreb, Croatia.
A number of the most powerful New Age (read: occult) organizations, such as Lucis Trust (originally founded by occultist Alice Bailey as The Lucifer Press — a printing and distribution arm for the Theosophical Society) and World Union (another occult organization heavily involved in the politics of planning and implementation of the world government) are well connected with all the one-world political societies, which in turn feed directly into the World Constitution and Parliament Association.
Let me tell you about just some of the other groups that WCPA is affiliated with:
The Council on Foreign Relations
(See our page on CFR, a clear threat to our way of life)
Rear Admiral Chester Ward, a former CFR member for sixteen years, warned the American people in a March 1991 The New American magazine article entitled, “The Internationalist,” stating, “The most powerful clique in these elitist groups have one objective in common – they want to bring about the surrender of the sovereignty and the national independence of the United States.”
And Kah quotes Dan Smoot, a former member of the FBI headquarters staff in Washington and one of the first researchers into the CFR, who summarized the purpose of the organization when he said, “The ultimate aim of the Council on Foreign Relations . . . is . . . to create a one-world socialist system and make the United States an official part of it.”
Yes, they really do exist. Kah explains that the overriding purpose of this group is the establishment of a world government. According to Bilderberg founding member, Denis Healy, this attribution is “not wholly unfair.”
As a side note, I find it interesting that the group has no Web site (that I could find), is extremely and admittedly secretive about their meetings, and there is no official statement from the organization regarding their purpose.
The Club of Rome
The Club of Rome, Kah says, “has been charged with the task of overseeing the regionalization and unification of the entire world.”
Economic crises, climate change, globalization and sustainable development are key phrases that litter the Web site of this organization. And again, according to Kah, “the WCPA is also using the environment as its chief argument for why a world government is required, similar to [Club of Rome’s] strategies and proposals.” He also documents the occultism that drives the organization, explaining the pantheistic, New Age beliefs of its founder, Aurelio Peccei.
The Trilateral Commission
“The purpose of the Trilateral Commission [is] to promote world government by encouraging economic interdependence among the superpowers,” says Kah. Indeed you find this, in so many words, on the “About our Organization” page of the TC Web site. What began as an alleged collaboration of Japan, Europe, and North America to foster closer cooperation among these core democratic industrialized areas of the world has grown so that, now, according to their own Web site, “The ‘growing interdependence that so impressed the founders of the Trilateral Commission in the early 1970s has deepened into ‘globalization.’”
Explains Kah, “The strategy of the WCPA and its affiliated organizations has been to quietly put as many pieces into place as possible . . . then once the groundwork is laid, the WCPA and its large New Age support network would rush forward as quickly as possible, implementing the world government before people really have had a chance to think about what is happening or are able to form an effective opposition.” I see the “rush forward” part happening before my eyes these days.
Consider Rahm Immanuel’s famous quote, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” What kind of crisis might fit conveniently into the overall plan of the one-world government enthusiasts? An economic crisis? They’re working on that one. An outbreak of nuclear war in the Middle East? It appears we’re on the brink. The rapture of the church? Even so, come, Lord Jesus! These are options; you can bet they’d use any of ‘em.
What I’ve outlined here is just the tip of the iceberg. The plan is too immense to explain it all here. But by now your question is likely, “Heidi, what do I DO with this information?”
First of all, you trust God. Remember, He already foretold all of these things that are coming together; it’s no surprise to Him:
The 10-region world government (Rev. 17:12-17)
The one-world international monetary system (Rev. 13:16-17)
The one-world religion (Rev. 13:12-15)
Secondly, remember that God is still on His throne. And do you know what He’s doing as He watches them conspire together? He’s laughing!
“Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His anointed, saying, ‘Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.’
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision,” (Psalm 2:1-4). “The Lord laughs at [the wicked], for He sees that his day is coming,” (Psalm 37:13).
Finally, I highly recommend you get a copy of Gary Kah’s book, En Route to Global Occupation. It’s an excellent primer on the foundation that has been laid for Satan’s short-lived kingdom. Once you have this bedrock of information, the news you hear daily will make a lot more sense. I speak from experience.
How Much is a Trillion Dollars?
Posted: 13 Feb 2010 09:00 AM PST
by Charles H. Coppes
As you probably know, or can’t fathom, the House (HR3326) and Senate (60-40), on pure party lines, raised our "debt ceiling" to $14.3 Trillion Bucks (to accommodate the jobless recovery and progressive welfare state for 2010).
As I often say on radio, a trillion seconds would take 30,000 years. Sure we could print $100 bills and shorten the astronomical figure to 3,000 years. But it is still fiscal insanity. The best thing that came off Gutenberg’s press in 1455 was the Holy Bible, but the Devil had other ideas. So let’s consider the following visual for a trillion bucks.
What does that look like? I mean, these various numbers are tossed around like so many doggie treats, so I thought I’d take Google Sketchup out for a test drive and try to get a sense of what exactly a trillion dollars looks like.
We’ll start with a $100 dollar bill. Currently the largest U.S. denomination in general circulation. Most everyone has seen them, slightly fewer have owned them. Guaranteed to make friends wherever they go.
A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and is more than enough for week or two of shamefully decadent fun
Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it.
While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, $100 million is a little more respectable. It fits neatly on a standard pallet…
And $1 BILLION dollars… now we’re really getting somewhere…
Next we’ll look at ONE TRILLION dollars. This is that number we’ve been hearing so much about. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it’s a million million. It’s a thousand billion. It’s a one followed by 12 zeros. (i.e. 1,000,000,000,000) …
Notice those pallets are double stacked.
…and remember those are $100 bills.
So the next time you hear someone toss around the phrase "trillion dollars"… that’s what they’re talking about.
(by the way, multiply those pallets by 7 and we have our national GDP of $14.2 trillion!!)

U.S. Department of Peace: Healing the Soul of America?
Posted: 18 Feb 2010 06:47 AM PST
by Jan Markell | www.olivetreeviews.org | February 16, 2010
Did you know that if you don’t believe God is in everyone you are working against world peace? This is what many who are promoting HR808 in the U.S. House of Representatives believe. And thus far, 288 House members have expressed approval for a bill that would create a U.S. Department of Peace.
Far left Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) introduced this bill and he and others believe a Cabinet level Department of Peace just might chase evil, war, and terrorism away!
So they state they will "augment our current problem solving options, providing practical, nonviolent solutions to the problems of domestic and international conflict." Presto! Create this Department of Peace and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Ill, China’s gulag thugs, the tormenters in the Sudan, and radical Islam will be transformed! We will gather together to sing "Give Peace a Chance" and the world will be transformed without the transforming God. That’s important as this is man’s efforts without Him.
This legislation will pass, according to some Washington insiders, unless there is another wave of citizens who will rise up and speak up by contacting their reps in Washington.
You can hear Communist Van Jones on the official Web site as he denounces democracy. Strange how a guy like Jones, whose ideology has killed tens of millions, is now all about peace.
But who is the unofficial ambassador for all of this?
Famous "New Ager" Marianne Williamson whose "Course in Miracles" has deceived so many people over the years. This seductive, "new spirituality" book was hyped by Oprah Winfrey every day in 2009 on Oprah’s Internet outlet. Winfrey continues to be a major player in this movement. She is a guru in the shadows providing a platform for every form of deception and delusion imaginable. And millions swallow her Kool-Aid as though all of her words and her guests represent gospel truth.
Warren Smith points out in chapter 6 of his e-book, Reinventing Jesus Christ, that Williamson states,"Yes, we see there are problems in the world. But we believe in a universal force that, when activated by the human heart, has the power to make all things right. We need to declare peace now, with as much serious effort and intention as that with which a nation declares war." Williamson, Barbara Marx Hubbard, and others on this peace train, insist that this will "heal the soul of America."
Here is a small sample of what Williamson believes. In the Course of Miracles she says, "The journey to the cross should be the last useless journey."
Or, how about this: "Do not make the pathetic error of clinging to the old rugged cross."
And since she doesn’t believe in sin, Hitler never sinned. He made mistakes.
This is, in part at least, the ideology of this Department of Peace that is on the horizon! And I can’t make these things up as it exceeds my imagination! Do these 288 members of the U.S. House of Representatives really know what they are signing on to?
Call, write, e-mail, or fax them and let them know!
You can also hear Walter Kronkite make stunning statements about war and peace here. He says that in spite of terrorism and war, hope is on the way! That would be the U.S. Department of Peace! He lauds the fact that soon there will be no automatic weapons, violence in schools, etc. We could show the world that "peace is our profession." All U.S. consulates could fly the American flag and the peace flag.
Such foolishness, and that is what the Bible calls it! "For when they shall say peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape" (I Thess.5:3).
These people totally ignore man’s sinful nature. They believe that forming a committee or a Cabinet position will bring about nirvana. They mock the Prince of Peace and would never bring Him into their peace negotiations and discussions.
They are convinced that all the world will be well once this Department of Peace is up and running!
The Bible says of the antichrist, "By peace he shall destroy many" (Daniel 8:25). Is this paving the way?

Train Wreck: Crisis Emerging in U.S.-Israel Relations
Posted: 15 Mar 2010 09:19 AM PDT
by Joel C. Rosenberg | March 15, 2010
With Prime Minister Netanyahu scheduled to arrive in Washington this weekend to address the AIPAC Policy Conference, Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren told Israeli diplomats in a conference call over the weekend that U.S.-Israel relations face the worst crisis in 35 years.
White House senior advisor David Axelrod said on NBC’s Meet The Press yesterday, "I think both the Vice President and the Secretary of State reflected the President’s thinking — this was an affront, an insult [by Israel], but most importantly it undermined this very fragile effort to bring peace to this region. And for this announcement to come at this time was very, very destructive."
During Vice President Biden’s trip to Jerusalem last week to show American support for Israel, our most faithful and enduring strategic ally in the region, some lower-level officials in the Israeli bureaucracy decided it would be a good time to announce the building of 1,600 new homes in a Jewish neighborhood of East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Authority immediately went ballistic, and the Vice President was deeply offended, telling Prime Minister Netanyahu that the timing of the announcement made the Israelis appear to be trying to sabotage the beginning to new peace talks with the Palestinians. Netanyahu immediately apologized, saying he had not authorized the announcement to be made during the VP’s trip and was not trying to derail or disrupt the VP’s trip.
Biden appeared to accept the apology, and Netanyahu thought the mistake had been resolved.
Since then, however, the situation has worsened significantly. Three days after the incident, Secretary of State Clinton called Netanyahu and reamed him out for 43 minutes. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters on Friday that Clinton told Netanyahu that the U.S. had "strong objections to Tuesday’s announcement, not just in terms of timing, but also in its substance." Clinton gave Netanyahu a list of specific demands that Israel must take for the U.S. to be convinced that she is serious about peace with the Palestinians.
First things first: The Israeli government and people have every right to build homes in its own capital and the Obama administration is dramatically overreacting, to its discredit. The President, Vice President and Secretary of State are tipping their hand by their words and actions. They clearly don’t believe in Israeli sovereignty over its own capital. They want to force Israel to divide its capital, come Hell or high water. They are applying intense pressure on Israel to divide Jerusalem and give away more land even though two recent "land for peace" efforts (southern Lebanon in 2000, and Gaza in 2005) were disasters for Israel and led to two serious wars. This is an enormous mistake. I cannot put into words how strongly I disagree with this administration and their disastrous approach. Jerusalem is the Lord’s chosen city. It is His capital. It is and should remain the undivided capital of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
Second, Prime Minister Netanyahu was right to apologize over the timing of the announcement, and not the substance.
Third, the management system within the Prime Minister’s office is not functioning properly and needs to be fixed immediately, or other diplomatic disasters will occur.
Fourth, as U.S.-Israel relations worsen and Israelis feel more and more isolated in the world, it is critical that followers of Jesus Christ build a global movement of Christians who will pray for Israel and visit Israel and bless Israel, come what may.
Christians should assert that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and shouldn’t be divided. Christians should call on Washington to stop pressuring Israel to make unwise and dangerous concessions. Christians should write letters to the White House, State Department and Congress showing their solidarity with Israel. Christians should call into radio and TV talk shows in support of Israel and keeping Jerusalem united.
Christians should visit Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Christians should care for the poor and needy in East and West Jerusalem, as well as throughout Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, thus demonstrating unconditional love and unwavering support.
This is precisely what the 2010 Epicenter Conference in Philadelphia this summer is all about, and I hope you will make plans to join us. We will analyze the current status of U.S.-Israeli relations. We will look at Bible prophesy. Then we will offer real and practical ways you and your family, friends and congregation can bless Israel and her neighbors at this critical juncture. I would particularly encourage pastors and ministry leaders from across North America to come and be part of this conference, and take the message and practical ideas back to your congregations and communities.
Please register today to make sure there’s a seat just for you. Please also pray that the Lord would superintend this conference to accomplish His purposes, and reach those whom He is calling, especially given the events of the past few days. Thanks so much.
100 Years of Progressive Strategy: The Prize
Posted: 22 Mar 2010 07:12 AM PDT
by Jack Kinsella | March 17, 2010 | Original Article on The Omega Letter
President Obama spent the day Monday in Ohio stumping for his health care reform bill despite overwhelming public opposition to the plan.
House Democrats know that voting in favor of the bill as it stands means being turned out of office come November. Yet at least 212 Democrats in the House of Representatives seem willing to take the risk. Why?
Well, if you are a true believer, it’s a small price to pay. Mark Steyn (a Canadian who fled Canada’s universal health care system for the freedom of the US) offers this insight:
"Look at it from the Dems’ point of view. You pass ObamaCare. You lose the 2010 election, which gives the GOP co-ownership of an awkward couple of years.
And you come back in 2012 to find your health care apparatus is still in place, a fetid behemoth of toxic pustules oozing all over the basement, and, simply through the natural processes of government, already bigger and more expensive and more bureaucratic than it was when you passed it two years earlier.
That’s a huge prize, and well worth a midterm timeout."
It certainly is. One term is nothing compared to 100 years. That’s how long the Progressive (Marxist) Left has been trying to impose a universal health care plan on America.
In 1912, Theodore Roosevelt’s Progressive "Bull Moose" Party campaigned on universal health care, splitting the vote and handing the election to fellow Progressive Democrat Woodrow Wilson. Wilson’s contributions to advancing the overall progressive agenda included the Federal Reserve, the progressive income tax and the League of Nations, (an organization the US Senate refused to allow the US to join.)
It wasn’t until the Crash of 29 was over (and Republican Herbert Hoover got the blame) that FDR tried to revive universal health care as part of his overall 1932 campaign promise of a "New Deal."
FDR never really said what his "New Deal" was all about during the campaign, which probably got him elected. FDR ran a campaign long on the promise of hope and change but short of specific details.
When it got down to specifics in 1933, FDR’s "New Deal" faced Senate opposition from within his own party, despite the fact FDR had large majorities in both Houses, (mirroring Obama’s dilemma.)
The leader of the opposition was a conservative Democrat from Missouri, Bennett "Champ" Clark, who sponsored an amendment that would have allowed employers to opt out of Social Security.
The amendment enjoyed widespread support, passing in the Senate with over half the Democrats voting for it as well as all but three Republicans. The way FDR handled the Clark amendment was probably the inspiration for Pelosi’s plan to get the House to "pass the Senate bill and then amend it later."
Roosevelt recognized that the Clark amendment would fatally undermine Social Security, but it at least got the camel’s nose inside the tent. Now there was room for ‘negotiation’.
Social Security was the Crown Jewel of Roosevelt’s New Deal; universal health care was just one element. Eventually, the Senate traded off the Clark amendment and the Social Security Act passed the Senate, but without universal health care in 1935. But the effort was merely postponed thirty years. It was never off the table.
Ever wonder why Americans as a population are center-right — but virtually all of our public institutions are left of center, sometimes waaaay left of center? Because governments come and go. Bureaucracies are immune to voter discontent — but they are the true wheels of government. Control the bureaucratic agenda and you control the system, regardless of who temporarily holds the reins of power.
Roosevelt’s "New Deal" created a system of bureaucracy that turned "civil servant" into the semantic equivalent of "civil master" — while making the individual citizen a virtual ward of the federal government.
Once federal officials had the power to hand out (and withhold) government entitlements, some of these newly-empowered bureaucrats found they LIKED the power.
Powerlust breeds bureaucracies; what good is power if you don’t have subordinates? Bureaucracies tend to attract a certain type of mindset; bureaucrats are a breed unto themselves.
Bureaucracies are notoriously self-protective, which is why the first thing they do is innoculate themselves to ensure their continued survival. Therefore, it is practically impossible to fire a civil servant and impossible to fire a tenured civil servant.
The kind of job where you don’t have to work, can’t get fired, and have better pay and benefits than comparable jobs in the private sector tends to attract a certain kind of mindset as well.
Career civil servants are not all liberals. But their unions are. And their rank-and-file are represented by the unions.
FDR’s New Deal created a permanent bureaucracy that perpetuates its existence and accumulates power by advancing the progressive liberal agenda that created it.
FDR>/B> was working from a blueprint that has been guiding the Left since Marx first introduced his impossible utopian vision of social equality.
That blueprint requires the imposition of universal health care for the structure to be complete.
Assessment: FDR famously told a group of labor leaders in 1932 just after his election; "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it."
Note all the great social causes of the 20th century; the labor movement, civil rights, the feminist movement, gay rights, immigration reform efforts, etc., all of them brought about by social clamor by those affected to some ‘crisis’ that demands legislative attention.
There is no corresponding social clamor for universal health care — indeed, nearly three in four Americans oppose it.
It wasn’t any more popular when LBJ’s "War on Poverty" tried to include universal health care. Rather than risk losing the war, the Left settled on winning a strategic battle.
The AFL-CIO created the National Council of Senior Citizens, made up of retired union members, to publicly campaign for Medicare. The organization soon expanded to include other retiree groups.
The AMA couldn’t campaign against the elderly the way they fought FDR thirty years earlier, especially after the AFL-CIO marched 13,000 seniors down the boardwalk at the 1964 Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City.
There was no grass-roots clamor behind it — it was the result of thirty years of liberal lobbying, but in July 1965 Medicare became part of the Social Security Act, thirty years after FDR used the Depression to push through Social Security.
The next effort was the famous Hillarycare of the early 1990s, but it was hard to invent a crisis when the whole world is working against you.
In 1992, the Soviet Union had just collapsed, the internet was just beginning to develop its economic potential, the peace dividend was burning a hole in Congress’ pocket, and Hillarycare went the way of the National ID card. (Also coming soon).
Universal health care is a prize that has eluded them until now. Why is it so important? Because, as Steyn observed, it would fundamentally redefine the relationship between the government and the individual citizen.
Until now, government control has been limited to those the government has managed to make dependent on them on the unspoken understanding that the hand that grants entitlements can also take them away.
If the seniors balk, threaten Social Security or Medicare. If the poor balk, threaten welfare and other social programs. But that only covers a small segment of the population on any given issue.
Everybody gets sick. Everybody needs health care. That’s why most sane people oppose handing it over to the government. And why the true believers in Congress are evidently ready to fall on their swords in order to seize it.
As I’ve observed in a number of previous briefs, the historical parallels with the 1930’s are many.
We’ve got a whole slew of Hitlers-in-waiting, an Islamofascist movement that threatens our existence, an ineffective and corrupt UN and a population made complacent by a politically-correct leftist propaganda machine.
There are even uncanny parallels between the FDR agenda and the Obama agenda.
The 1930’s gave us a handful of candidates for antichrist; Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin — but the time was not right.
There was no Israel, no "many" with whom to confirm a peace covenant, no Israeli borders to guarantee.
The West was still overwhelmingly Christian, the apostasy had not yet come to full bloom, and there was as yet none of the necessary global governing or financial institutions necessary.
Whether history does repeat itself, or whether it merely rhymes, it continues to track in the same direction as Bible prophecy.
Here is the point. We can already see the parallels and it doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots and see where its all leading.
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh" (Luke 21:28).
