Secrets of Reciprocal Linking Strategies by Ed Duvall Whether you're new to the internet or a seasoned online marketer, developing a plan to increase the number of reciprocal links back to your website can help you bring more highly targeted traffic to your cashlinks website as well as improve your ranking in the search engines. Link popularity is becoming an increasingly important criteria for better search engine ranking. So the better your popularity, the better your ranking. You may be thinking that you'll loose traffic to your website if you link to other websites. Sure, that can and will happen, but you should gain as many or more NEW visitors that you not have otherwise visited your caslinks site. Keep in mind that in addition to more visitors via linking that another big benefit here is a potential increase in your Cashlinks websites' Search Engine positioning. As an online business owner you realize that their are a variety of advertising and web promotion techniques you have available to you. Linking to other websites is a well known but little used tool that can produce significant traffic for your website as long as it is done properly. This is a good script to start out with if you don't have time to screen links. FFA pages play a small role in your advertising but they shouldn't be included in a reciprocal linking strategy because people rarely see the FFA sites or their messages and the Search Engines don't recognize them in their criteria for determining link popularity. It's best to stay away from them as a way to develop reciprocal links for your website. **Contacting Webmasters** Again the best webmasters to contact are the ones whose websites compliment yours in some way. How do you find the sites and contact the webmasters? The simplest way is to go to one of the major search engines, enter in the terms that describes websites you want to link to and let the search engine bring up the lists for you. You can get several hundred email address just by visiting these sites and contacting the webmaster. It is always best to send a short email to the webmaster introducing yourself and stating the reason you're contacting them. You may want to give the information for them to add your link to their Link Page or simply start a dialog to see if there is a mutual interest in linking. For best results I like to find websites that compliment mine, then add them to an appropriate cashlinks page and then send the website owner a personal email telling them I liked their site, have added it to my Quality Links page and ask if they would link back to my website. I also like to explain to them of some of the benefits of Reciprocal Linking and even go as far as helping them set up their own cashlinks page if they don't have a good quality links page. Some will link back to you and some won't. If they don't simply delete the link and move on to the next site. Implementing a reciprocal linking strategy does take time and effort, but it is easily manageable. Combined with an overall web promotion strategy it can be a powerful way for you to develop relevant, targeted traffic to your cashlinks web pages as well as help to increase your websites overall position in the search engines.

1) Develop a Traffic Attitude
Most people are approaching the web passively. They put up a web site. They wait. Nothing happens. They complain. Or even, ridiculously, pull off the web, like it's the web's fault that 60 million people didn't drop by before breakfast. If you want traffic, you've got to work for traffic. That means developing the Traffic Attitude. This attitude consists of the following parts: . Recognition that the web doesn't promote itself . Determination to master web promotion . Decision to find every conceivable means of building your cashlinks traffic, and . Use them all -- every single day!!!
(2) Post -- Daily Did you post today? Yesterday? The day before? Probably not! There's a problem right there. I'm a 365-day-poster. I post every day whether I feel like it or not (and, believe me, on those cold Iowa mornings, I most assuredly do NOT feel like it!) .Reason? Because . you can get unlimited postings . they're free . you get a steady stream of prospects . by working with these prospects properly you get a steady stream of qualified prospects and, ultimately, sales. In other words, postings work. The key? . Developing client-centered benefits for your postings. Push BENEFITS, not features. . Making sure that each heading in your posting leads with that benefit. . Also making sure that the body of the posting further develops your main, or subsidiary benefits, while providing all the means necessary for your prospects to connect with you NOW. Postings work because they excite prospects with the value/benefit that you have available... and provide these prospects with everything they need to know to connect with you. On days when you don't post, you're thwarting your own cashlinks traffic. Not smart. (3) List Free Classifieds -- Daily There are so many places on the Internet to get free classifieds, it's staggering. How to find them? Easy. Go to Alta Vista or Yahoo or Hot Bot or any of the other search engines and enter "Free classifieds." Hundreds of places will come up. When you add a link, you're usually allowed a few words (a dozen or less) to describe it. Think about these words carefully. What you want to post is a BENEFIT, not just a descriptive feature. In other words, what's the prospect going to get when she visits your site? The better the benefit, the more visitors you'll get!
(5) Take Advantage of Paid Links Everybody likes the free stuff, but there's something you should know. Many of the free sites get minuscule traffic, as you can see in an instant from their traffic counters (if they even dare to post one). That's why you should also use paid links. You want to be associated with high traffic malls and web sites that do extensive on- and off-net advertising. If the company is aggressively advertising its web properties and bringing in traffic, and if they reach the kinds of people you want to reach, why, then, you need a link -- even if you have to pay for it. This method is more socially responsible than sending the kind of response hate mail that so many people unaccountably find acceptable. In other words, get crackin'. Print this page and keep it prominently displayed so you'll remind yourself of all that you can do... and all the benefits that result when you do it!
